Plot:
Bret Hart, five times' champion of the World Wrestling Federation, sits in a hotel room - one day before the most important fight of his life. Sure, it's just professional wrestling, but this match is...( read more

An engrossing look @ a year and the WWF downfall of Bret Hart and interesting to look back @ it's roster in 96-97
I give this a 3 and I'll explain. The film is actually really interesting. It's meant to show Bret Hart during the most tumultuous time for him in WWF. It is meant to show how he got "screwed". What it really shows and what I find interesting, is a bitter man who can't separate the fantasy of his job from the reality of his person. This film shows how arrogant and self involved Bret Hart was. How he truly believed he was his wrestling character and, as Vince McMahon has said, "Bret Hart screwed Bret Hart." This film makes that extremely apparent. The 3 is more a commentary on the fact that it tries to present itself as something other than a man whose ego has gone to his head. Bret Hart fans will rage if you try to point out how absolutely pathetic Bret looks in this film but the reality is caught on tape. He brought about his downfall in wrestling and this film captures the start of his fall. If you can take off your Hitman shades and watch the film with clear eyes you'll see a very interesting documentary, otherwise you'll simply just miss the boat.
Wrestling is fake. Wrestlers use steroids and wipe out their entire families. Yet people still think this is good entertainment.
exceptional docu-style film, charting the disintegration of wretler Bret Harts relationship with his promoter Vince McMahon....ground breaking and thoroughly engrosing, this is a must see for anyone with even a passing interest in wrestling.
Another great documentary about Pro Wrestling....this depicting the infamous "Montreal Screw Job" as Bret Hart left the WWF for WCW.
An absolute must-see for anyone who has ever watched wrestling. This is as real as it gets. The doc crew hit the motherlode when Hart's world got turned upside down in front of them. For wrestling fans, this film documents the most pivotal moment in wrestling history - the business was never the same after this. For non-fans, this is a great glimpse into the "real" behind the "pretend". The matches may be staged, but the lives of the participants are indeed affected by what happens in and out of the ring.
Bret Hart, a hot wrestler who could curtainly steel your hart. The Best there is the best there was and the best there ever will be
possibly the best doc. of pro wrestling, timlines the "montreal screwjob" between vince mcmahon, bret hart, and hbk shawn michaels
Bret screwed Bret....Hart should have done as Trish did and THEN join WCW not join WCW and get screwed and then get pissed bout it when it was Bret himself who jumped ship, full knowing that if he was Vince he would not stand for such betrayl.... bret hart has and will always suck! OWEN was 10 times the wrestler Bret was...
fantastic documentary. excellent insight into a business that is often looked down upon but that i still have a great fondness for.
For years he was loved by millions but, for reasons he could not fathom, those same fans grew tired of him and turned their backs. Wrestling With Shadows is an excellent look at a key figure during perhaps the definitive time of the industry. The "Montreal Screwjob" will live on in infamy for all wrestling fans and this documentary focuses on the career of Bret Hart during the buildup to an event which would change him and the business he loves forever. Predictably the doc is skewed in favour of The Hitman who, as the central figure, cannot be seen as anything but the victim by the time the "screwjob" takes place. There were far more elements contributing to what happened at Survivor Series than are shown here. But then this is not a documentary about what happened that night, it is a close examination of a dedicated worker who finds that his workplace is no longer what it was, and that he is in danger of becoming absolete when, mere months earlier, he was the very centre of everything. Obviously this film will appeal more to wrestling fans but, if one can overcome the bizarre prejudice the industry engenders in so many, therein lies an important study of how fickle stardom can be.
A must see movie for any wrestling fan. The best there was, the best there is, the best there ever be.
This was a okay movie,is sad he is not here with us anymore----A legend as his family is. Stu Hart & Co.
kick ass behind the scenes look at the going ons of professional wrestling and a step by step of the biggest screw job that has ever occured in the industry
Great documentary about one of the greatest pro wrestlers of all time. Gives you great insight into the Montreal Screwjob. I love this doc.
I REALLY WANT 2 SEE THIS 1 BECAUSE IT HAS OWEN HART IN IT AND OWEN HART IS LIKE MY FAV WRESTLER OF ALL TIME (GOD REST HIS SOUL)WE MISS U OWEN AND WE WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER UR TACTICS IN THE RING I HOPE I CAN SEE U IN HEAVEN BI(CRYS)
A must for any Bret Hart fan and wrestling fan alike. It conveys the truth of a wrestler's life and in this case the life of a legend and one of the greatest wrestlers of all time who did not deserve what happened. An intriguing and enthralling documentary with a good sense of realism, emotional content and behind the scenes look at the world of professional wrestling.
the best documentery i have ever seen. it made bret hart look awesome...which he already is....AND NO I AM NOT GAY.period.
This controversial documentary takes us into the life of Bret "The Hitman" Hart, 5 time WWF Champion and one of the best technical wrestlers of his era! It gives us an in-depth look at the screwjob that occurred during his final match and the biggest scandal in the history of professional wrestling!
Nicely paced investigative documentary following Bret Hart. Essential for the fans of 90s wrestling.
No wrestling fan should be without this controversial but very revealing documentary. If you're not a wrestling fan chances are you will not enjoy this movie, but if you are then this is a great look at the famous "screw job" of Bret Hart by Vince McMahon, Shawn Michaels, and others. I thought this movie was well put together and is not a typical wrestling dvd, but could definitely be labelled as a legitimate documentary.
