Quite difficult for me to understand the more in depth plots, but a good film nonetheless, and the best out of the two films Alistair lent me (apart from Garfield)!
This movie is a good standalone action movie, but as the movie based of the Hitman series, it fails miserably. Still, this wants to be the Hitman movie, so...
I really liked this movie. The Hitman series is an excellent series of video games, and Timothy Olyphant - with his fine self - did a great job with the lead character (he played Agent 47 to an almost perfect robotic T). The story was interesting enough and the action was top notch.
wow... wow... Seriousl how do you screw up hitman? He goes places, he kills people, the story loosely follows a political plot of some kind. This plot follows a himtan who is going for revenge or something like that possibly because he was set up. I can't really tell because the plot is so horribly executed. It's long boring and an un-exciting experience all around.
The portrayle of Agent 47. In the game 47 is a killer. Silent, swift, and deadly. He appears with out warning and leaves as quickly as he appears. Any wittness to his crimes is killed on the spot. No one is allowed to see him and live. In the movie first of all he has EMOTION!!! 47 has no personality. He kills. thats his personality. He is not a young man who has feelings for a girl. First off I HATE Timmothy Olyphant. I HATE(!!!!!!!!!) him. I mean he expresses emotion and sorrow and need to help others. He should have noooo emotion like spacey in se7en. Plus waht was up with him feeling sorry. 47 feel sorry for no one!!!!! Also While it's cool that there is a lot of action, but once again in the games it's all STEALTH!!! NOT!! guns blazing bloody action. In all honesty I found it VERRRRRy disapointing. Obviously. The only cure taking out a hit on your self.
I've had a bit of a man-crush on Timothy Olyphant since he played Todd the drug dealer, in Go. He was perfect in the role, utterly cool and confident. I've been following his career ever since. Unfortunately he's done a lot of crap films since then, though he's usually good in them. His highlights have been his turn as the porn producer in The Girl Next Door, as the terrorist in Live Free or Die Hard, but by far his best role was his three year run as Seth Bullock in the beautifully realized western show Deadwood. So, although I've never played the Hitman game, and it honestly didn't look like a very good film; I was somewhat excited to see Olyphant as the lead in a major Hollywood action film.
The professional assassin with a growing conscience has been an extremely popular character over the last decade, I think it started with The Professional, and maybe before that in La Femme Nikita. Every aspect of this character has been explored. I think that the makers of Hitman realized that, and went purely for the action end of the profession. The film is beautifully shot and the action scenes are very well put together, but without the emotional impact you don't feel a connection with the characters, so it remains just that, pretty action scenes.
The Professional, one of my all time favorite films, while having top notch action, remains with me because of the love that grows between Leon and Mathilda. They try do to explore that minimally in Hitman, with the connection between Agent 47 and Nika, the girl he's protecting. But Agent 47 remains a robot throughout the film; that even when Nika tries to seduce him, he responds by knocking her out. I liked that they try something different with him as a character, but it makes it tough to feel anything for him, when he doesn't feel anything for the people around him. I liked Nika's character, tough but vulnerable, she plays our connection to 47, and actress Olga Kurylenko is extremely easy on the eyes.
The story of Hitman didn't do a whole lot for me either, the Agency that employs him turning against him, forcing him to fight his former team, is really old hat. The Interpol agent on a mission to stop him, played with a permanent grimace by Dougray Scott, is also really played out. It soon became an unfunny joke that Interpol was having such a hard time finding this guy, who constantly walks around in plain site with a bald head tattooed with bar code, the guy kind of stands out wherever he goes, not once does he go in disguise or even put on a hat.
So while there were fairly good performances by the actors, and director Xavier Gens has a very good eye and a sense on how to build an action scene; I particularly liked the sword fight in the subway car. But without a story or characters to care about, the only reason to watch it soon became purely for the action. Nothing about the film seemed fresh. I think it's decent enough to satisfy the players of the game and hardcore action fans; but if you're looking for something original or truly satisfying, look elsewhere.
a great film about the life of a professional assassin. the story: Agent 47 (Timothy Olyphant) has been educated to become a professional assassin for hire, whose most powerful weapons are his nerve and a resolute pride in his work. 47 is both the last two digits of the barcode tattooed on the nape of his neck, and his only name. the hunter becomes the hunted when 47 gets caught up in a political takeover. both Interpol and the Russian military chase the Hitman across Eastern Europe as he tries to find out who set him up and why they're trying to take him out of the game. but the greatest threat to 47's survival may be the stirrings of his conscience and the unfamiliar emotions aroused in him by a beautiful, damaged girl... Timothy Olyphant's role as Agent 47 was great as well as the other members of the cast who starrred in this film.
iv played all the HitMen game and believe it r not iv read the book and iv loved them all so i couldnt wait for the film, it was a bit slow at first but over all good.
This movie was a very good for being based on a game. It has a lot of action. Has some boobs in it for 2 brief moments of the movie. I can't really say anything about there acting because they were easy roles. The story was intresting.
This movie was a real fast action packed film that you needed to pay attention to or it doesn't make sense, I think that Agent 47 looks and sounds like Billy bob Thornton but i may be wrong, anyways ill give it a B
Hitman looks good, in and outside the action, of which there's plenty. Bloody and action-filled, with some slow-motion sequences to make some of the shooting scenes a little more impressive.
There isn't too much to the plot - or, let's say, the plot is there and it is complex, but it is not too much explained. That might make the movie seem a little worse than it is, plot wise. Maybe a few more repeats with the movie and/or knowing the game would help with that.
What really works for Hitman is that the main character, 47, stays the same from beginning to end. Sure, there are signs of softening, but in the end the movie isn't ruined with a happy ending and romantic affairs.
Timothy Olyphant is Agent 47 who is hitman which is 2007`s greatest action film. hitman has a great soundtrack and a Better version is the Unrated DVD with more violence. best way to see this film is to watch the extreme or buy the extreme edtion.
i was a vivid fan of all the hitman games, i remember trying to complete the first game over 10 times restarting every time, but even though i found it to be extremely hard i still loved whole game play, slicing people thoughts with kichen knifes and then shoving them into drains, it was fantastic. for it time hitman was one of the most complex game characters around probably even today. but it was so unfortunate that Hollywood killed the hitman character, he was just too confident in this movie and the action was far to charismatic, in the games your suppose to to portend your the pool cleaner or a builder and then sneak up on people and kill them and pure silence is what you'd strive for. the action was just too messy and 47' seems too alive.
I was expecting this to be much worse, it turned out to be OK.. not great still OK !
Not much of a plot but after all it is a video game adaptation so I guess you can't expect a lot..
I thought Timothy Olyphant was good and thumbs up for Robert Knepper - very convincing in his role.
Timothy Olyphant is an excellent actor in this, after Vin Diesel turned down the part I thought it would fail, but it certainly didn't fail; although like most game to film, it didn't excell either. Worth watching film, good fun, but a little to be desired I'd say.
WOW! this was an entertaining movie. All I had heard about this movie was it was really shit, but I have to disagree, this was a solid rock em sock em action flick with sick fights/gunfights crappy dialogue and decent plot. My only distaste from this movie is how bad Timothy Olyphants performance was. During the scenes located in the middle of the movie it looked as if he was bored, or not enjoying filming this movie. But then again... it was awesome seeing Robert Knepper, being so damn cool and suave in the awesome show Prison Break, it is nice to see a switch from T-bag to dirty russian cop. Plus, Olyphants performance reminded me of Michael Scofield, so this was like .... dare i say it... a fun elongated version of a prison break episode for me. Sweet! OH! and omg!!!!!!!!!!!! Olga Kurlyenko is freakin hot!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought this movie pretty much sucked. It had a few moments but mostly...well just sucked and was trash. Like most movies based on video games.... it failed.. miserably. I give it a star... and only one out of pity..
Im a fan of the games, 47 is no doubt a cool character but the film didnt seem like it gave enough story & developed characters. Plus it pissed me off when they got all those amricans to speak Russian, which they did terrably & they should all be shot. It did have some good action at times.
I liked how it was directed and the wink to the game when he jumps into a window and sees two youngsters playing hitman, it was great ! The story wasn't original which annoyed me... and neither was the soundtrack way too similar to jason bourne's... don't they have any imagination left ? The actress was gorgeous but i think i should have watched it in english because the french voices sucked it was badly dubbed..
