Tex Ritter rides, ropes and sings again in Grand National's Hittin' the Trail. This time, Tex comes up comes up against a gang of horse thieves. For a while, it looks as though the trail will hit him, but he prevails, armed with six-shooters, a nasty uppercut, and a plethora of songs. That gangly supporting player billed as Heber Snow would later metamorphose into Hank Worden, a valued member of the John Ford stock company. Not one of Ritter's best, Hittin' the Trail still paid the bills for producer Ed Finney and director R. N. Bradbury.
