Smith is engaged to marry a man named Tom Mitchell (Jeremy Bulloch), but when Hoffman learns that Mitchell has a criminal past and is wanted by the law, he makes a startling proposal to Smith -- he'll turn her fiancé in to the police unless she agrees to spend the weekend with him. Smith sees little choice but to agree, but arrives at Hoffman's door imagining the worst. Miss Smith's emotional transformation, which we're presumably expected to mirror, is hard to swallow and comes across more as a discomfiting Stockholm Syndrome breakdown than a tender opening of her eyes and heart.

Anchor Bay's DVD edition delivers a fine print (1.66:1 anamorphic) with good color and detail, though it's sometimes grainy and speckly. The DD 2.0 monaural audio is fine. Extras are the lengthy and hamfisted original trailer, plus a thorough Sellers bio.
