  I don't know if this is the right movie that I saw... but I saw Hollywood, Singing and Dancing, a Musical History. It chronicled the best musicals from the advent of sound technology to the emergence of rock n' roll and modern day hits like Moulin Rouge and Chicago. It was basically a bunch of clips from my favorite musicals, bringing back good memories and a bunch of famous people's comments on it like John Travolta and Liza Minnelli.
