Despite the fact that the "film within a film" realizes that Denis is an extra in his own life, the actual film does not. And when the lead character is blander than water, what can be expected? That said, the concept is fresh enough and Douglas and Allen especially seem to be having fun. Gardenia and Graham however, fall prey to acting like bad caricatures. Another good Donaggio score, though.
This is not a great movie by ANY means, but there is a part of me that loves this movie. One of Brian DePalma's little movies, but one that spoofs his style, showing that he has a sense of humor. Good stuff.
