This is not a war movie... it's a movie about war. Home of the Brave has been the best movie to date on the psychological effects our soldiers endure when they return home from Iraq. It's riveting to see the demons they face. Truly inspirational... And don't worry about propaganda because it's neither Pro nor Anti War, the film does a great job of remaining completely neutral.
This film boasts an A list cast with Samuel L. Jackson, Jessica Biel, Christina Ricci, Chad Michael Murray, Brian Presley, and 50 Cent, who was surprisingly impressive in this action drama.
Don't be fooled, if you're looking for a movie chalk full of dead bodies, blood, and missing limbs, then this is not for you. The first 20 minutes is intense however (think Black Hawk Down), but the remainder of the movie is deep and touching.
Draggy soppy war dramas starring Jessica Biel are what is wrong with cinema. They tease us with the promise of Christina Ricci and although her 3 minutes of screentime are divine, the rest is complete bollocks, do not watch it!
Those who have watch this film would have realised how a threatening life was in army men's and women's who r sighting for their country... good feelings packed and i really like the screenplay it made me to scratch a lot in my heart for many hours... nice acting by all and wonderful story line made me impressed a lot... good film totally PLEASE NO WAR...
Okay plain and simple, this movie is definitely similar to the film "Raising Flagg." Average, boring, random plot line, yet it contained some strong cast members who pretty much saved this film from being a disaster. So why is this movie such a disaster, you may ask? Plain and simple. It's a boring script which was probably written without any heart, considering how hollow the lines seemed to be. Nothing seemed to work with the scenes no matter who was in it.
However some of the cast saved it from totally failing itself. If there were only minor actors who have had no previous experience it would have been pathetic.
Very good movie. Depicts what happens to many soldiers after the war. Post dramatic stress and dealing with change. Shows the harsh aftermath that men and women go through when they returned home. I have experienced this first hand with family members that came back from Iraq!
I thought this was a great movie. I dont know how people thought it was a flop - it shows a side of the war that many movies are afraid to tackle, the aftermath.
The movie takes an emotional ride through being there, leaving there, and surviving afterwords. It's done well and does justice for those who served and are dealing with hardships still today. It was a great cast and a great movie.
I found myself fast forwarding this one just to get through it....again when bad movies happen to good actors....let me re-phrase it wasn't that bad just boring as hell
a interesting story, showing troops during and after theyve returned home to america after serving in irak in the current war, from samuel l jacksons surgeon, turned alchololic, to jesssica alba coming to terms loosing a hand in a attack, and variouis other troops turned civilians, and the events they have to face and prepare for, the story is well acted throughout, and all storys are engageing to watch, sometimes comes off as a tv movie of the week, but direction is solid, and is never dull, and film starts great when in irak, a firefight breaks out, a good opener.
This movie presents family matters over war with some heartbreaking reality. It's even quite unusual to see a war movie of this kind, without the classic heroizing of soldiers or their actions, and i'ts great. There are some very powerfull scenes, fed by good camera shooting.
Very well done movie that I think portrays the effects of battle on soldiers. I think they should make more movies of this caliber. Jessica Biel and Brian Presley are very good.
Good film.On the lines of the deer hunter but with the war focus on Iraq and with the dealing of today. Fine performance all round, Jessica Biel prove she more than a pretty face with Sam Jackson doing a fine job.All in all a good film with a bit of through.
this movie tells the story of four american soldiers coming back home fro mthe war in iraq, their lives are changed they r not what they used to b. nd this goes for every america nsoldier that comes home, they are not sane nemore, the war is what killed him not physically but emotionally. this movie affected all of em, nd this is an example of what americans soldiers go thru.
it made me like ched michael murray. it reaally show off his skill as an actor not just some who loos good. i also find this movie weell writen and diracted. I reaaly enjoyed this flim even thought i'm not a big fan of these actors
below average drama, about a very important subject.the actors do their best with a very poor script.the characters come across as just feeling sorry themselves, which i am sure was not the intention.the film lacked pace.
This movie had so much potential... but really did not deliver as much as I expected; it did, however, show an interesting and different perspective on war and its effect on veterans
I don't know why this movie got such a bad rating on IMDB. Maybe because it is politically delicate and also because some people may have thought this was supposed to be an action movie but it isn't. I have to agree that some acting is awkward and there are some clichés, but I say that it took a lot of guts to do a movie like this now. Playing those parts like that is difficult and the direction probably doesn't help. I think that this movie is worth seeing if you want to have a glimpse of what it is for soldiers when they come back from war. This is a glimpse of course, and this is hollywood so it is not supposed to show how it is for ALL soldiers, nor should it be a perfect depiction. That would be impossible.
Unflinching drama about a group of soldiers returning home from the Iraq War and trying to get on with their lives. Starts off with a gripping battle scene, then settles down into a strong dramatic piece. Tends to get a little too much at times but still is compelling stuff. A strong cast featuring Samuel L. Jackson, Brian Presley, Chad Michael Murray, and a suprisingly good turn by Jessica Biel, who shows she is more than a pretty face.
This film is about the American soldiers over in Iraq, how the war scarred them both physically, mentally, and emotionaly, and how they deal with it when they come back home. Great performances by Samuel L. Jackson, Jessica Biel, and Curtis Jackson a.k.a. 50 Cent. I think Brian Presley had the best acting in the whole film, and it is really his first mainstream movie. Chad Michael Murray and Christina Ricci have very small roles, allthough Murray's character is very important in the film. Great directing by Irwin Winkler. Very sad movie, but it is tied up nicely at the end, by the three remaining main characters telling their different stories about what happened to them in Iraq.
I don't give a damn what anyone says...this is shit that happens to soldiers when they come back. Not all of them...but look what young people go through and give up for us!
Begins with rather stale war scenes though the effort was there to make them harrowing was obviously lost in the editing booth, despite it´s "starry" actors with solid performances for the most part, works better as a TV movie than a cinematic experience, if it´s a modern war movie you are after watch Black Hawk Down or The Kingdom, if you want a good drama, watch this one.
