this is shit. I think the crw where the only ones stoned in this film, plotline gathers a little moss as it rolls through the scenes. I think some stoned crew member lost some of the scenes and they've pieced together what the could. If this is supposed to appeal to stoners, it'll send them to sleep, give it a miss there's plenty better ways to spent 90 minutes, like getting stoned.
"You guys are the biggest fuck-ups in the history of dope dealing. That's a huge fuckin' statement."
I loved this, it was fun to watch and a seriously entertaining and funny movie! The tag-line 'A comedy that goes to your head.', I sure agree with. This had an A-list cast, an original and hilarious plot, plus some very funny quotes and moments I definitely won't forget. This was sure worth seeing, and I'd be up for a second viewing!!
The story circles at first around three guys, Jack, Carter and Harlan. They are working on their boss' marijuana plantation in northern California, until they find Malcolm dead, murdered. It was only the three of them there, so they decided to keep it quiet for a while and try to take over the business themselves.. without anyone else knowing Malcolm was dead. But this proves to be more difficult than they thought, as they find themselves dealing with some of the most dangerous people around, being wanted dead, and owing millions of dollars. But that's only some of the complications that arise when the trio start to take things into their own hands...
What a cast! So many faces I recognised in this flick.. too many to name. Again for me Billy Bob Thornton was funny as always, a great performance from him. I loved Ryan Phillippe's character, he was so clueless and funny.. he was perfect. Hank Azaria was also hilarious, making the trio a great mixture of actors. John Lithgow was also in this, not a significant role, but he was still quite good. Kelly Lynch was mediocre.. I didn't partially like her. Jon Bon Jovi I really liked in this movie, heck.. he can sing and act!
This was a great watch, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a great way to spend the duration of this movie in stitches from laughing so hard. A great comedy that everyone should enjoy!

I only wanted to see this because Jon Bon Jovi was in it....I only got 15mins into it and had to turn it off. And this was supposed to be a comedy?? I wasn't laughing! Crap.

I found this very disappointing, but I imagine I would have found it moreso if I had gone in expecting anything. It was funny, but not as funny as it could have been. There was too much hang time between laughs, and too much character and not enough plot. It seemed such a shame that they killed John Lithgow's character right at the beginning, and I wish they hadn't muddled the story with drug paranoia. Although the ending was good. This movie isn't too bad, but far from special.
One of the worst films ever made. There's nothing clever or funny about any of the situations, and the performances are all put to waste. The last scene is utterly painful and misdirected on all accounts, which is just a well placed mirror to summarize the rest of this crap fest. Big cast, little brain.
This film makes Tommy Chong look like a genius in the stoner film market.
Billy bob does a good job in adding conflicts and well you can guess what this movie is about. Harvesting, plotting, the works, its a funny and good movie at the same time.
You looking for a comic drama with suspense and an ensemble cast? Well locate this little sleeper. John Lithgow and Billy Bob Thorton are great in this little plot twister. Don't forget the cameo by Jamie Lee Curtis. A touch of the 60's, a touch of "the Prince and the Pauper", and dash of that homegrown gold makes for a greast little story.
Plot Summary:Life is good for Jack, Carter and Harlan, three inept ne'r-do-wells who help run master dope-grower Malcoms flourishing marijuana plantation
There are several marijuana inspired songs, Bob Marley's "Smoke Two Joints" and Musical Youth's "Pass The Dutchie", just to name two.
