Wandering into the terminal after his plane touches down, the solitary Marine (Fran Kranz) quickly realizes that no one is standing there to greet him. The deeper the soldier ventures into the Northwest coast to locate his long-lost father (Whip Hubley), the stronger his connections grow to the people he meets along the way, like the embittered veteran of the first Gulf War, the step-mother he's never met, and the kindly British stewardess (Elize du Toit) he befriended on his flight home. When a body washes ashore on a nearby beach, the lives of everyone involved begin to transform.
