History seems to play out with the hand that is sometime dealt.
Not bad, a great cast but Roth steals the show with some great lines. He's like Elmer Fudd turned bad!
Tim Roth was amazing but the movie was kind of predictable, ending up being an average gangster movie.
Every racist comment out of Tim Roth's character's mouth was like a stab to the chest. It made this movie hard to enjoy, which is a shame because I like 20s gangster movies.
This film was a delightful surprise, for me. The cast is excellent. The story line is great. I recommend this film.

great movie, not very historicaly accurate but a great movie none the less
A really good gangster flick with a top notch cast. Each and every one of them pulled it off. The flick came off a little predictable but entertaining none the less.
I really enjoyed Tim Roth in this flick. Every time he plays the villain he manages to put forth that right amo...( read more)
A slightly drawn out story, with a great cast, Tim Roth was particularly good and managed to really get in to the role of his character.
The storyline is based on the times around Lucky Luciano, without too much envolvement of Lucky Luciano (Garcia). This could have been as g...( read more)
This right here, is 30s gangster movies at their best. Fishburne delivers a GREAT character, Bumpy Johnson, one cold cat. Garcia and Roth head their prospective gangs, and both deliver strong performances. This strength of this movie is the supporting cast, however. Each and ...( read more)
Loved everything about this movie from the cast to where it was filmed at.
Hoodlum is a film with a sparkling cast. The actors did live up to my expectations, considering what they were given to work with, which was not much. The story in Hoodlum is wrought with cliche, and yet takes itself far too seriously. The directing seems to be a mish mash of sty...( read more)
This is one of the best ones
With a all star cast
Bumpy face was played verry well
I've never even heard of this movie. It's not surprising considering it took me almost 30 years to watch The Godfather.
He Taught the American Gangster, liked this more than most people I know
This is based on a true story, black gangsters from back in the day!
didnt think it was gonna be much but i was wrong very entertaining mob movie some great scenes dont know why it isnt more well known.
why this witch love him so much?
i am so inlove with him that I can not even afford to cast him my spell....
Abraa---ca----- shhiittttttt..... whats next?????? How can I command him to look for his witchy princess??? (Meee) hehehe
This was a pretty good movie with a pretty good plot. Tim Roth did a wonderful job as Dutch Shultz and Fishburne shined as Bumpy Johnson.
I only watched because it's Andy Garcia. Otherwise, it's not very well executed and probably not worth your time.
I can watch this movie over and over again. Based on 1930's-40's numbers Harlem gangster Bumpy (Ellsworth) Johnson, Laurence Fishburne gives a under rated performace of this character. Also Andy Garcia does a good Lucky Luciano character. This movie is based on true events but...( read more)
