"thats why! i've been so stupid! explain it to me again" - audrey. after watching the first scene or two i found myself wondering why audrey hepburn was wearing a white bucket on her head. her collection of hats seemed to be equally bizarre throughout, but it's not a film all abo...( read more)ut audreys wardrobe... don't panic! it's about a heist and romance. i haven't seen peter o'toole since watching night of the generals where he stole the show. he almost stole the show here too but audrey just about managed to keep up with him. the on screen chemistry between the two is much better than she had with gregory peck in roman holiday which i saw recently. yes, this is a good film with some memorable comedic moments in it as well as tension when it comes to making to robbery and it's definitely worth watching. all involved did well

'How To Steal A Million' Gets Away With Star Power

Made in 1966, this is a genteel entry in the caper genre much like To Catch A Thief. I love a good caper movie - The Sting, The Concrete Jungle, The Italian Job remake, The Score, when done right can have you on the edge of you...( read more)r seat. This one relies mostly upon Audrey Hepburn & Peter O'Toole for charm. I'm not one who gets taken by those enormous Bambi eyes of Audrey's - her first scene is rather amusing as she's wearing Harry Caray-style sunglasses while listening to the radio news when one item captures her attention, she takes them off and her own eyes are open almost as wide. In fact, O'Toole's first scene shows him peering his bright blues in full closeup over the frame of a painting; William Wyler sure knew how to play his stars' strengths. Both actors have class and set against a sumptuous backdrop of Parisian society life.

The caper itself, stealing a statue from an art gallery, has a couple mild innovations - I always want to see a new, ingenoius way to defeat the alarm system, you never know when you might find yourself locked in a South American prison. One gimmick with a boomerang was absurd, but they incorporated a nice plot twist - a good caper always has one of those too. At LEAST one.

This is a classic movie, with Audrey as her ever pixie-like self and Peter O'Toole in a wonderful comedic role. How to Steal A Million is an original concept and a great piece of film. Performances and comedic timing are perfect, and this is a great watch for all ages.

What a Great and Fun movie. How can you not love Peter O'Toole's Blue eyes when he is startled by Audrey Hepburn descending the staircase with a gun in her hand?. They also had one of the best director's in cinematic history William Wyler, the man behind Ben Hur and The 10 Commandments. The story is practically seamless and the actor's - in my not so humble opinion - were of the most excellent caliber. Having seen many of the films Audrey Hepburn was in, I was surprised to find her performance in How To Steal A Million so comical. If she was going for a "break the mold" performance, I believe she succeeded. But she certainly has many of the most admirable qualities. Now, Peter O'Tool on the other hand I've seen almost all his Movies and he does a great Job and as he did in This one and other than to say, He is delightful in this film as he always is.

Not only is this movie clever, cute, and romantic, but it also showcases brilliant cinematography, Oscar-worthy acting, and beautiful Givenchy fashions!
This remains not only my favourite Audrey Hepburn of all time (yes, it is even better than Roman Holiday!),but also my favourite "oldie" of all time!

A brilliant film! Really funny and romantic. Audrey Hepburn is really lovely and Peter O'Toole is gorgeous as the 'gentleman bandit'. A great film!
