Rubbish but it does try! Some of the shots are quite good but even a bigger budget couldn?t and wouldn?t help the dodgy storyline. The werewolf looks crap too!

It's just okay. There's nothing too special about it. It's interesting and it's a different kind of werewolf film, but it's pretty lacking.

I love the 1st Howling film, but this was so bad, I didnt actually watch most of it, it was just backgroud noise. Someone had it free with they're DVD player.

This movie had potential, but fell through the cracks. To bad.

To me this is the worst in the series

Whilst the first Howling film was a solid example of the Werewolf genre's re-invention, not many positives can be made about this cheeply made, diabolically acted B-film. The opening scene; a slow-mo first person pusuit of a terrified, blood spattered girl through a shadowy fore...( read more)st, makes for an appitising starter but then the plot falters the rest of the way. The concept of vampire vs. werewolf is an intersting precursor to Underworld, but ultimately poorly executed. The story's tongue is well and truly in cheek in The Freaks, all but plagerising the Todd Browning classic in an attempt to be postmodern but never getting beyond the point of resonant. Oh, and the special effects for the werewolf are lousy, taking a step back from the prosthetic wizardry of American Werewolf and the original Howling to return to the 1940s style of men in furry costumes. I recommend this film if you have some free time and want a no brainer. Otherwise, I suggest you stick with the big four werewolf films.
