Plot: Five friends spend one lost weekend in a mix of music, love and club culture.
Reminds me of Trainspotting. Just like they made a lighter version of it. Lighter in every sense. Even in quality... But still 3.5
Nice to see a movie about drugs that isn't preachy but takes the subject seriously, although there are a few good laughs. The characters aren't that good though and the plot is quite aimless.
story set over 24 hours, in cardiff wales, about a bunch of young clubbers, who work during the week, and live for the weekend when they go pill popping and other use of drugs, and out on the town and club the night away, in nightclub, and house partys, the story follows jip(john simm) moff(danny dyer) koop(shaun parkes) and a few others, as relationships are cemented and posible love interests arise, a great look aT the rave culture in south wales, and drug culture that exists, great look at frienship, and although the dance scene isnt my scene, i certainly dident turn my nose up at what was happening, great performances from simms and especially danny dyer, a geezer was discovered with this film, aparently a great sundtrack to, check it out.
piss off you fucking pilled up tossers! the lead guy is the biggest pussy ive seen since keith couldnt get rid of karina!
a film that captured the clubbing pill scene brilliantly; the star wars scene at the party wen they go on about the trippy coincidences that follows he trip down in its scope and intensity. Different drug film from most coz you wouldn't be on a pill watching this! "What do you call 50 ravers in filing cabinet? Sorted!"
A hedonistic, self-indulgent and drug-glorifying film that wishes so hard that it was Trainspotting. It is inferior to the aforementioned film in every way. It has it's funny moments, but it is overwritten and oozes pretense. Danny Dyer and John Simm (mmm) being in it makes it bearable. And the end scenes are good.
BRILLIANT movie! got to be one of my all time faves, and I'd reccomend this to anyone ;) However, if you're in the US, the american version is etided and messed up, so tracking down the original british version is worth it. The Remix is pretty good too!
"The Weekend has landed..."
at first you'd think there was no scope to this film - its about early 90's brittish rave culture and doesnt go anywhere else. But aside from this we have some loveable characters (Koop and Moff are my particular favourites) and a few simple but pleasing plot elements (Koops dad, jips relationship troubles, moffs over indulgence of the chemical variety). Also, there is some creative and visually interesting things going on here.
great movie. work hard all week to party at the weekend typical of how life was in the mid to late 80s, hahahaha rave on
Wow, what a surpirse to see this movie pop up! Excellent portrayal of the rave scene from the early 90s. Actually, the most accurate I've seen. Not only that, but theres a nice little relationship story going on as well. The characters are likeable and for anyone who can't rememer a few years of their life from that time...an absolute must see. Brings back memories every time.
I love this film! It's the Pill Head Bible... It takes me back to my misspent youth! Also full of top british totty! Mm Danny Dyer!
A movie that would be perfect for a double feature with TRAINSPOTTING, as it has that same energy. This is a great movie about a bunch of young adults who take drugs and party over one crazy night in London. Quality stuff.

By nature over-enthusiastic, it's possible that "Human Traffic"'s target audience adored this movie. This is commendable up to a point, but they, like the protagonists, will grow out of it.
Given that it confines itself to showing the chemical generation at play, rather than reflecting or commenting on it, the soundtrack, for which Pete Tong is credited as "supervisor", is as exhilarating as it ought to be.
Howard Marks' "spliff politics" scene is likely to give the film short-lived cult status among casual drug-users, and in years to come, the film will be an interesting but embarrassing period piece.
No film can make me buzz & feel happy no matter wot mood i'm in ,,,...other than this one..../....Need I say more...lol
the story is pretty ordinary - but the way it's told deserves attention. the visual side of it is absolutelt fantastic. i also like the fact that the movie isn't trying to force the message that drugs are bad.
Looks dated now but holds so much nostalgia for anyone involved in the late nineties/ early noughties house and trance scene; one of the most quotable films of all time! ("this tune'll turn Hari Krishna into a badboy" etc.)
One of my all time faves, great characters, great film. Just reminds me of what i get up to every weekend!
fucking brilliant film, been in the same situation and its all so true u have to watch it if you havent
living for the weekend, pubs, clubs, drugs, drink and party's following a load of pillheads having the ultimate weekend in cardiff, wicked soundtrack to go with it aswell !!
"You lucky, lucky people!" Jip tells us as we begin the film. Captures the ups n downs of UK chemical clubbing nicely, plenty laughs, more lighthearted than Trainspotting. It helped that the crew were off their nuts whilst filming!
So many memorable quotes! Gotta love Jeremy 'Faxman' reporting from the 2am dance floor and bidding us good night with: "Reach for the lasers .. safe as fuck!"
