Critic Reviews from Rotten Tomatoes

"There are songs and dance numbers, of course, which thankfully inject some energy, but even by Bollywood's standards of plot-interrupting artificiality, they seem out of place."
‑ Robert Abele, Los Angeles Times
"Song sequences - about weddings, religious devotion and Punjabi martial traditions - are refreshing gulps of air amid the solemnity. Rarely has dancing been so welcome."
‑ Andy Webster, New York Times
"An amazing feat. A sharp commentary on the injustice done to Sikh people in the aftermath of 9/11 and some of the most breathtaking song-and-dance routines seen outside of a Michael Jackson or Madonna video."
‑ Louis Proyect, rec.arts.movies.reviews
