Critic Reviews

  • Glenn Heath Jr., Slant Magazine

Ghostly, wrenching, and defiling, I Spit on Your Grave comes out of the past coated in textured mud and blood, returning in a rapturous Blu-ray edition.

  • , Bullz-Eye.com

Where the original really comes crashing down into a heap of garbage, though, is in the revenge angle.

  • R. L. Shaffer, IGN DVD

Gruesome and incredibly exploitative. However, for better or for worse, I Spit on Your Grave shows us the raw, shocking reality of rape, in all its bloody viciousness.

  • Staci Layne Wilson, Horror.com

    It's a hard watch.

  • Anton Bitel, Eye for Film

in the dualistic contours of the rape-revenge subgenre, Zarchi finds a way to position his characters and viewers alike as both aggressors and victims. The results are neither comfortable nor pretty, but they are certainly confronting.

Boring. Not bad, just overrated. It wasn't nearly as violent as I thought it would be. I've seen other, more disturbing, more explicit movies than this from the 70s. This movie felt dry. The actors were average, and the story was too. Overall, it's just okay.

This classic one is the most notorious pictures ever made during the seventies. I watched this on DVD while it allowed to release in my home country during banned for 17 years by the Australian Classification Board in 1987. It's true! This story is familiar to <i>The Last… More

Considering that I Spit On Your Grave has been banned, condemned and villified by almost every mainstream film critic, it was obvious that I would want to check it out. Critics have said this was a more intense version of The Last House On The Left. I somehow disagree. I thought both… More

I Spit on Your Grave is downright unwatchable for the second act, which in its entirety is a disturbing and extended rape scene where its only purpose is to show Camille Keaton naked. It's length seemed pointless in groundbreaking ways and seriously took away from the… More
