This film is funny as shit! Anything with Sarah Silverman is AWESOME! Jeff Garlin did a great job writing, directing, and acting in this picture. This is one of my favorite IFC moviez, it was really DAMAAJJJJJ!!!!
This movie had a few great moments, but I had such high hopes for it that I was sad. It was very hard to watch because I wanted to punch Sarah Silverman's character in the face everytime that I saw her. The ending was very abrupt but at least I didn't have to see Silverman again and I did think that everyone was better off by the end. All in all not a great movie but watchable. It could have been so much better.
Good all around humor here. Very much the same feel you get watching curb your enthusiasm. The script is very mild with obscenities but sarah silverman is her typical perverted self.
A very slight movie, sort of Curb Your Enthusiasm lite. Jeff Garlin stars and directs, and if you like him on Curb then this is probably a movie you will like. Neither he nor Sarah Silverman stray too far from their typical film and TV roles, and there are some nice cameos from very talented actors including Amy Sedaris, Dan Castellaneta, and Roger Bart, and Bonnie Hunt is good as always. There is the usual bit of improvisation that you would expect, plus the various film references are fun for those of us with a good knowledge of film history.
A mild, amusing comedy with no real big laughs but will keep you smiling throughout. Jeff Garlin's a likeable fella, and Bonnie Hunt plays a love interest. Mmm. . .Bonnie Hunt. It's worth it just to watch Bonnie Hunt be Bonnie Hunt.
i am sorry but i did not get the humor of this whole movie. the only reason why i gave it three stars is because well there is a little bit of humor in it. but the movie is sad, pathetic, just wants to reach itno the movie, slap the actor a few times and please beg him to spat out of it. if you are into dry humor you might just like it. i personally really did not get it.
I'll start by saying that I'm not someone who appreciates Jeff Garlin's approach to humor and even less so his acting abilities. I did however find this to be quite charming and good natured. Inspired by a 50s film called Marty and drawing from experience with the Larry David show, this film follows Jeff as he goes through some of the worst days of his life while still maintaining a smile and high spirits. Cameo appearances make this movie special, but even without them, it's witty and heartfelt. It wasn't hilarious, but it was amusing and engrossing.
Wow! This was such a cute and funny romantic comedy. It was written and directed by Jeff Garlin who plays the main character. This also stars Bonnie Hunt and Sara Silverman. Come on! now you know it's funny!
Some very real moments, some very funny moments, but Garlins vision feels underdone, and so unrealized. Both Bonnie Hunt and Sarah Silverman are appealingly sharp yet needy, and some of the smartest workhorses in sketch comedy do some fine bits, too fine for the 'Sweet" movie catagory the film finallly falls into.
Great simple character piece. No flashy camera work, no preposterous "running across the city to win back the woman I love scenes' Everything a movie needs to be and nothing more.
Seems funny and sensitive but will probably be overlooked by many because they never heard of it. Well, I'll do everything I can to see it at the theater, who's with me?
