  A well advertised Dolph action flick in local London papers to tie in with 'The Expendables' release of course but I'm afraid like many other flicks made by some of these aging hulking stars this film is pretty average, though not terrible. Dolph does what he does best here (hence...The Killing Machine), he shoots and beats people to death whilst being in-destructable haha just like Seagal and JCVD. The plot is the usual and unoriginal hitman story who wants to leave the work field but is dragged back in and double crossed 'yawn!'. While this is a 'straight to DVD' release its not as bad as recent Seagal offerings which have been dreadful, this is quite stylish with hand held cams and gun fights that are well done with good wound effects and stunt work. There are some nice fisticuffs through out which do look good and show Dolph hasn't lost his fitness, physic or facial looks damn him haha but its really just very very predictable, alittle dull at times, a very over used genre/idea and just dumb cos Dolph is invincible. Films like this worked back in the day when these guys were the best of Hollywood but these days they just seem stale because we are so used to seeing big muscle bound guys with big guns, its a hard genre to follow or make work now without alittle luck and just the right combination of casting and story, still its not too bad.

A strong action film with great characters, gun battles, fight scenes and a solid story. A thrilling, very exciting and intense adrenaline-rush of an action flick. It's sharp and well-crafted. Dolph Lundgren has never been better, he is kicking ass and showing great star power in his directional feature. Lundgren has crafted another well done action film, he's on a role with these great flicks like The Russian Specialist. Missionary man and Command performance. A great action star and great action director. Icarus is an awesome and really cool movie.
