When his cruel master kicks the bucket a week before the annual Evil Science Fair, Igor finally gets his chance. With the help of two of his experimental creations--Brain, a brain in a jar who's a little light on brains, and Scamper, a cynical bunny brought back from being road kill, Igor embarks on building the most evil invention of all time, a huge, ferocious monster. Unfortunately, instead of turning out evil, the monster turns out as Eva, a giant aspiring actress who wouldn't hurt a fly. Just when the load on his back can't get any heavier, Igor and his band of monstrous misfits uncover an evil plot that threatens their world. Now, they must fight to save it and prove that heroes come in all shapes and sizes.

Might be a little out of reach for really young kids but it's quirky and enjoyable.

I don't understand why animations have to be this way. Villain, romance, sidekicks, slapstick, action etc. I know they want to be enjoyed by the whole family, but do they really need to cover all these bases? Igor is a pretty decent effort that hasn't come from one of the big stu...( read more)dios. It should be watched for the vocal work and a few witty one-liners. You get some nice additions, such as an immortal but suicidal rabbit and a climax that is a mix of Annie and robot wars. It's a fairly decent watch for 80 minutes but doesn't surpass, nor trail behind it's formulaic, mediocre brethren.

    "Pull the switch!"

Animations are almost everytime huge hits that bring back a lot of cash to the production companies. Metro Goldwyn Mayer's "Igor" wasn't one of 'em. Ok, it brought back its production costs but most of the so called target audiences avoided the film.

One thin...( read more)g that comes in mind immedialtely is that its not suitable for the younger audiences. The dialogue is at times something that the kids woun't understand at all. Some of the scenes are also so scary that the kids will probably lose their good night of sleep.

But for a man like me, in his early thirties, "Igor" was a lot of fun and entertainment. I genuinely laughed a couple of times, mainly because of the hilarious sidekicks, Scamper (Steve Buscemi) and Brain (Sean Hayes). The lead character was a let down.

One of "Igor's" main faults was that it reminded me a lot of "Nightmare Before Christmas", Disney's "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" and one of my favourite video games, "MediEvil". For me this means lack of originality and imagination. Some might call this a tribute...

One thing that I liked, and this is a genuine tribute, was the whole thing with "Annie". A violent, monster that looks something close to Annie sings "Tomorrow". Nice.

One scene in particular was pretty funny, in a way. A bunch of blind kids sing before the end credits, "I Can See Clearly Now"... This was just a proof of "Igor's" humor. Not for kids but the more mature audience, who are into animation, will probably have a good time.

"It's better to be a good nobody, than an evil somebody."
