Edward Lawrenson, Time Out
The American Perabo (doing a good English accent) and Headey are likable leads -- and Goode brings a touching vulnerability to his role as the luckless Heck.
-
Eleanor Ringel Gillespie, Atlanta Journal-Constitution
If you're in the mood for a moonstruck trifle with a drizzly London setting, this might not be such a bad choice. All that's required is that you be as open-minded as the movie is open-hearted.
-
Bill Muller, Arizona Republic
Although Imagine Me & You (never much liked that song) tries to tap into a popular theme, we never believe that Rachel and Luce are the slightest bit interested in one another.
-
Roger Moore, Orlando Sentinel
A surprisingly old-fashioned romantic comedy, a film of lovely British parks, of antiques auctions and cluttered, lived-in homes and very good-looking 30-or-so's trying to be sophisticated.
-
Connie Ogle, Miami Herald
A tepid sort of romantic comedy, with lengthy stretches during which nothing much happens punctuated by bouts of paralyzing boredom or, on rare occasions, random but fleeting hilarity.
-
Robert Denerstein, Denver Rocky Mountain News
Parker overdoes it, whipping up a confection that manages to be too cute, too corny and too indifferent to emotional reality to matter.
-
Heather Boerner, Common Sense Media
Charming, quirky Brit romance has mild gay themes.
-
Doris Toumarkine, Film Journal International
A generally pleasant distraction.
-
Nathan Rabin, AV Club
Imagine Me & You shamelessly embraces every romantic-comedy cliché in the book.
-
Kevin Carr, 7M Pictures
Imagine Me & You is more about fidelity and respect - or rather the lack thereof. It doesn't matter if the characters are gay, straight or bi. Cheating is cheating.
-
Scott Weinberg, DVD Clinic
It's a fluffy little concoction that'll capably fill 90 minutes, but it's not destined to become anybody's newest favorite.
-
Xan Brooks, Guardian [UK]
Brit-com business as usual, right down to the outbursts of posh swearing and the fraught, last-minute dash through the London traffic.
-
Adrian Hennigan, BBC
A witty and immensely enjoyable British romantic comedy.
-
David Edwards, Daily Mirror [UK]
In short, it's an absolute louse of a film -- 94 minutes of unimaginable, unspeakable awfulness.
-
Matthew Turner, ViewLondon
Enjoyable romantic comedy that succeeds thanks to likeable characters and some good gags, despite falling foul of all the usual rom-com traps.
-
David Cornelius, DVDTalk.com
Snappy writing and spot-on performances from a terrific cast help the movie avoid all the pitfalls of cliché.
-
Jim Lane, Sacramento News & Review
Parker's command of moldy clichés is fluent (one character even says, with a straight face, 'Follow your heart').
-
Liz Beardsworth, Empire Magazine
Parker has a sensitive approach to the crise d'amour, but his lacklustre leading ladies contribute to an uneven tone.
-
Marrit Ingman, Austin Chronicle
Imagine Me & You has its charms, but for a movie about loving radically, it sure plays it safe.
-
Andy Klein, Los Angeles CityBeat
...neither great nor awful: On TV, it might seem better, but it's simply underpowered for the big screen.

Funny. Charming. Sad for him...even though they did attempt to make us not feel too bad for Matthew Goode by the end. Stick around post credits. All became right by him...

What a nice freakin' movie. Very sweet and British. I rather like Heck's "If you had any respect for me at all, that's exactly what you WILL do [leave him]" and Rachel's, "What do you mean?" after Heck claims this was all her choice. She doesn't say yes or no; she's conflicted as to whether love is a choice at all.
However, I can't help but think the audience wouldn't be as forgiving of this extramarital tryst if "the other woman" was a man. A wife falling in love at first sight with a man other than her husband...well, that's just her succumbing to lust. A wife falling in love at first sight with a woman...well, that's just her following her heart. In either scenario - if they're believed to be earnest - there is both succumbing to lust and following of hearts. The movie assumes a slight double standard of homosexual affairs being more forgivable than heterosexual affairs. Some would say navigating the spectrum of human sexuality is harder than navigating just one relationship. This sounds like reverse-discrimination - one diverse population holds the monopoly on suffering, so they should be able to get away with certain crimes. I'm not saying the movie champions this; I just wonder how much of my liking of the movie is based on this forgiveness, and how much of a PC hypocrite that would make me.
Lastly: such a very nice use of title song!

Two women meet at one's wedding, and they fall almost instantly in love with one another. As the bride enters married life, they work to resist their attraction.
This film hinges on love at first sight, and this concept, flimsy and difficult to show on film, is the only thing that can help avoid the audience thinking that Luce is a home-wrecker or that Rachel is a doubly sinful adulteress. And it would be even more cliche to depict Heck as the insensitive asshole husband. So, love at first sight it is, the only thing on which this film hangs its hat, and as a result, I'm left thinking that Imagine Me and You takes few chances. It fails to develop the relationship between Luce and Rachel so that we might think that lesbian relationships are superior to heterosexual relationships, and I would wonder how the charm of this romantic comedy would be affected if it depicted a male/male affair.
However, for all its structural flaws, I found myself charmed by Piper Perabo and Lena Headley's performances, and Matthew Goode is the definition of "British dashing." The comedy is positive, upbeat, and innocent despite the relative illicitness of the central affair. I found myself enjoying the experience of watching this film until I started to think about it.

the storyline was good but although it was pretty predictable its still a really good and happy feel-good movie!!!
i mean its still worth a watch as its 2 girls full in love instead of a male and female so its go a slightly different story and its pretty good i love lena headey and she plays the character really well!
Its worth the watch as its fun!

A charming romantic comedy, Imagine Me & You is quirky and lighthearted. The story follows a newlywed named Rachel who, after having a chance encounter at her wedding, begins to question what love is and whether she has married for the right reasons. The performances by Piper Perabo, Lena Headey, and Matthew Goode are exceptional, and the cast has impressive chemistry. Additionally, the humor is quite clever and the storytelling is well-done. Still, there are some underdeveloped plot elements and the directing is a bit weak. Yet even with its flaws, Imagine Me & You delivers a fun and entertaining tale that takes a sincere and heartfelt look at love.

While there, she catches the eye of Luce(Lena Headey), the florist working the wedding. A friendship develops between the two women, especially after Rachel visits Luce's shop. So, Rachel invites her over for dinner, hoping to hook her up with Cooper(Darren Boyd), a single friend of the couple.

"Imagine Me and You" is a funny and charming romantic comedy with a good cast, but Hector is something of a cliche and the climax is badly overplayed. The movie is centered around the debate of whether or not there really is love at first sight, and how exactly love develops between a couple. My noticing a pretty face is likely to only leave a fleeting impression. For me, it's through getting to know someone that an emotional connection is forged.

This is a film that's the same as everything else you've seen. It embraces gay culture which is refreshing for the society that we live in, is still refusing to accept it and I thought Matthew Goode played the heart broken husband perfectly. You don't feel anything but sympathy for him and you may even get a slight tear if you're a hopeless romantic like me. It's unexpected at times, even with a predictable ending and Piper Perabo does a perfect British accent, and with Lena Headey has great chemistry. Witty and somewhat charming.

Very much a buy-the-book romantic comedy/drama that borrows every possible Hollywood cliche. The lesbian aspect of this film felt completely tacked on, and IMDB confirmed it - "The film was originally conceived and written as a heterosexual love story." I guess if you have to see every possible romance movie ... here is another one you can see. Piper Perabo's feature role pretty much consists of her smiling a lot; I did not buy the love connection in the least. The only thing IM&Y was able to convince me of is that Matthew Goode is fantastic. Spoiler warning: Absolutely every character in the film ends up getting the girl. Prepare to grit teeth during the epic, over-the-top climax.

A derivative rom-com effort that just barely charms its way past its narrative clichés.

Piper Perabo & Lena Headey as a couple? Mainstream logic attached to a project that's usually the fertile field for the indies?
It's weird that we live in the 21st century, and only now, we watch a perfectly marketable film product, with two girls having a happy ending. Together.
I just feel I have to salute whoever believed into making this film happen. Do we have to thank 'The L word' for that? PROBABLY.
Yeah Lesbians are NOT (for the first time in all eternity) deranged psychos, OR killer maniacs (with or without reason), OR bloodsucking whores.
They are sweet simple peaceful people, and they may look a lot like your florist! What a jolly ride, to see the final car race, the protagonist chasing the way to he airport (copy/pasted from "Notting Hill" and a thousand more movies like it) only this time, the girl waiting for a flight to the airport... is also waiting for another girl to run to her and pick her up. Forgive me for feeling so amazed... and share this simple joy.

Unconventional, believable and heartfelt, everything is right with the world. Loving Matthew Goode. Piper Perabo isn't bad either. Great part for Anthony Head as well. A surprisingly good romcom.
-
It's nice to see that the conventional romantic comedy has been turned on it's head, but apart from that this wasn't that great to be honest.
-
It was a good movie. The downside: hearing Piper Perabo's English accent. Off-set.
Overall, it was worth seeing. Lena Headey did a great job.
-
Unexpected but actually a good film.
-
If Anthony S. Head weren't in this film I would have quit watching it. I really wish he wasn't in it.

This is one of those under the radar movies that nobody sees and it turns out to be a great movie. One of my favorites now.
Heck: "So, what about you? Are you married? Ever been married, ever gonna get married?"
Luce: "No. No. Maybe now that the law's been changed."
Heck: "How do you mean?"
Luce: "Well, I'm gay"
Heck: "Mmm...well done"
