A sexually charged murder mystery that was controversial in the US, perhaps for its unromantic graphic sex scenes. As a murder mystery it is very average indeed and the experimental cinematography was kind of distracting at times.

I strongly suspect this is a film that will benefit from repeat viewing - with it's strange insinuating cock-tease of a plot and morally ambiguous characters, you're left feeling we've only scratched the surface of what is going on here.
A kinky and morally twisted tale that I r...( read more) -

this was a weird one, very dark and sexual. it was hard to take in meg ryan in this film, it was a totally different role for her! yet it was a interesting thriller that kept you watching.

It's not for everyone, but I couldn't take my eyes away. full review
Unquestionably the most ambitious and important film to come along in months. full review
A muddle of thriller and art-house phantasmagoria. full review
All of this is well done, and yet the movie is kind of a shambles. The key supporting characters are awkwardly used, as if the movie thinks it ought to have them but doesn't know why. full review
In the Cut isn't just a movie about decapitation; it's a decapitated movie. It has no idea where its head is at. full review
A disjointed, sometimes fascinating melange of moods, associations and effects. full review
