Well this was on tv the other night so I decided to watch it even though I knew it was a terrible movie. Did they spend the whole budget on paying the big name actors and didn't hire a writer or costume designer? Could have been so much better and I bet those actors hate it when ...( read more)people bring this movie up. I feel so bad for Burt Reynolds, he really better make a movie quick, any movie or he will be known for this crap when he dies.

the story in this movie teaches us that family is everything. Great!
  • November 9, 2009
wow, this movie was pretty lame, wanted to turn it off half-way through but stuck it out till the end in the hope that some good would come of it, but alas no...LAME

"In my kingdom there will be no word for 'madness.' We will simply call it 'power.'"

A farcical, over-the-top, poorly acted attempt to copy the epic Lord of the Rings. Ule Boll clearly overestimated his abilities as well as the quality of the script, as what transcends to...( read more) the screen is just an almighty mess. The film is obviously "inspired" by Peter Jackson's masterful trilogy, as it seems they've stolen the locations, attempted to rip-off the soundtrack and copied the Orcs - they even stole Gimli! (who, for the record, is also just much more kick-ass when he's half his real size..)

The film is much, much too long (they even tried to get it up to LOTR timing standards..) and it's just embarrassing for all the actors - particularly the ones who had some previous credibility to their names. And even more particularly for Ray Liotta and Matthew Lillard - who knows what either of them were thinking!

If you like Jason Statham, please don't watch this film - he was cool until I watched this. Actually, scrap that - just please don't watch this film, period.

Jason Statham made his worst movie, anyway he isn't a real actor, he is a kind of wrestler.

too many battle fight n long
  • October 6, 2009
Embarrassing rip-off of Lord of the rings, and Burt Reynolds as an acient king..um..
The aussie saves the day...like straight out the neighbours
A strange waste of money and the end credits do tell about thousands of cgi artists that took part of this. and you ask yourself: why?

Well, where to start? This laughable fantasy film stars the wooden as ever Jason Statham as a guy named Farmer, a simple farmer (you guessed correct!). But when a troup of orc-like things attack his home and abduct his wife for no apparent reason, Farmer goes on a quest of monste...( read more)r butt-kicking and in the process discovers he's actually a prince of the realm. He also meets an army of vine swinging, scarcely clothed female forest warriors to fight the evil mage who is behind all of it. The special effects and choreography are surprisingly decent, and that's about it. But honestly, I had a blast watching this hilariously bad movie!

A surprisingly entertaining but overly silly medevil fantasy.
  • August 24, 2009
    very bad production.
  • August 17, 2009
Ahahahaha, sooooo lame. It is, however, entertaining, and contains Jason Statham, Ron Perlman, and ninjas, which are three reasons to see it anyways. Also? BURT REYNOLDS AS JASON STATHAM'S FATHER. IT DOES NOT GET FUNNIER THAN THAT.

Worst movie I've seen in years. Horrible concept, terrible script, and bad bad bad special effects. Really though, how did they score so many stars to act in this film? Too many heads getting cut off and slow motion following them flying away for no reason. It was like a child's ...( read more)attempt at a Lord of the Rings remake. Avoid it if you can. One star for getting the cast.
  • July 18, 2009
This is a terrible film all the way. God knows how they got such a good cast. It rips of so many good, bad and old fantasy films and not in a good way. The story is the usual old rubbish, the effects are poor and the acting is real cheese.
They also manage to stick in some martia...( read more)l arts nonsense in there too, as hordes of faceless monster baddies get their arse kicked by the unfit looking Statham.

Everything is predictable and cliched to the max, it gets almost 2stars for some nice cgi landscapes here and there.
    Avoid.

Quite a bit better than anticipated. Some of the war scenes had ridiculous elements, but other fights scenes were rather interesting. The movie wasn't carried by Statham, but it wasn't horribly hurt by him either. It was carried by Gimi (sorry, don't know the actors name) and so...( read more)me of the other supporting character actors. I thought it was worth the watch.

just an average medieval film but still good. it has some weird green forrest-dwelling fairy people or something that fly on vines which made it kinda odd

I enjoy Jason Statham's action films. This one is set with swords and magic. A good movie for a Saturday afternoon.

Good movie! What limit is there, between the love of a man to his wife?
  • June 17, 2009
This movie had great star power and great actors but a bad option on the director pick... the story had too many unnecessary parts of the story don't make sense almost all the characters feel like their stories are half assed

With the help of his friend and neighbor Norrick (Ron Perlman) he travels to Stonebridge; however, the Krugs kill his son and capture his wife. With the help of Norrick and Bastian (Will Sanderson), Farmer's brother-in-law, he intends to find and rescue his wife.

A yes... another epic movie on war taken up into fantasy land? no...but i wonder how does an ordinary farmer know how to fight let alone use a sword?? And i'm not too happy about Ray Liotta having a part in this movie, he just doesn't fit into the whole fantasy vibe. Who was the ...( read more)director of this? Bland. Couple of really cool fight scenes. Beginning was hard to understand.
  • May 18, 2009
1 star fer Jason Statham...witout him it is a -2
  • May 11, 2009
Such a low budget movie. If it wasnt for Jason Statham pulling of a great peromance this would have only been a 2 star movie, and even he had some shocking one liners in the film

i really enjoyed this film and it surprsed me that it got such a bad write up but i really enjoyed it and its different it surprised me that it was like a magical fairytale sort of thing and it surprised me pleasantly though
  • April 22, 2009
I was expecting a lot less from this movie due to other reviews but it was actually ok to watch overall. There were a few areas that could have been cut out and actually improve the movie. It seemed longer than its actual length due to excessive length of some scenes.
  • April 22, 2009
Fulfills all expectations of an Uwe Boll film.

Horrible dialogue, two-dimensional characters, lousy cinematography, cheesy effects and a plot which is nearly impossible to care about makes this one worth skipping. OMG dis is a good movie, I love Jason Stathams movies
  • April 17, 2009
How could a movie with such an awesome cast suck so much? Honestly if your going to make a movie that's going to appeal to LORD OF THE RINGS fans then at least come up with some original ideas for it!
I liked all the actors involved but few of them could fit into their roles wel...( read more)l enough that you'd believe they were from that time. Especialy Stathem and Liotta.
The one person who everyone knows would fit into that time period because he's done so many of those movies is Rhy-Davies and then they give him a role that has just under 10 minutes of screen time.
Lillard didn't do bad though and managed to fit into his role well enough and passed for being from that time.
The film itself is a mess though with terrible editing that makes everything jump from one thing to the next with little time to soak it all in. They even reuse a lot of shots of bad guys getting shot by arrows.
There is also too many storylines that are not focused on enough for you to get any meaning from them so you don't care too much about the characters.
The whole filmed felt like it could have been a mini-series on the Sci-Fi channel that got crammed into one movie.
One last thing with noting is the Krug costumes are terrible and are cheap imitations of the Orc costumes.
It started out strong, but quickly fell apart even with it's strong cast members. Skip this film if your a LOTR fan, a Statham fan, or any other kind of fan.

"So this is where we pay for our sins?"
"No. This is where we pay for our virtues. Sins are more than welcome here."
  • April 11, 2009
jason statham i am dissapointed in you. surely you can do better than this. i'd say the same for ray liotta but hes only been in one decent movie
  • April 9, 2009
Ok just, big cast but it looked like a shit version of lord of the rings and the story no where near as good.
  • April 7, 2009
DO not judge the game by the movie!
  • April 6, 2009
People are usually blind in rating this type of story. This was great underrated movie. It got a very good story and very good plot. The sad thing was that, it had unsuitable actor(although they had good actors), not very good FX and just bad directing I guess. It should be good,...( read more) I am sad, this is tragic.

This film made me laugh a lot, and NOT because it's funny. So so SOOOO awful.
  • March 27, 2009
it had a great story but the actors could have been picked better although Jason Stathom played the role well
  • March 27, 2009
I wasn't sure I wanted to see this until I looked at the cast. I just might have to give it a go
  • March 26, 2009
Corny, unimaginative tale. If you combined Lord of the Rings, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon,The Matrix, and Troy-- this is the movie you'd get. The whole thing felt like a cheap LOTR knock off. I couldn't believe how many scenes and themes were actually identical to Lord of the R...( read more)ings! They are so similar it's silly (and Lord of the Rings was created first, by the way--both the books & the movies). I can't believe how they got such a star-studded cast to be apart of this. Even though there are many well-known actors in this movie, the acting still majorly sucked. Actually, Jason Statham and John Rys Davies did a good job. But everyone else, especially Ray Liotta, not so much. The script was pretty pitiful too.
  • March 25, 2009
Much to my surprise this move wasn't a total failure. Certainly not a masterpiece but it does it's job. I think that Uwe Boll's name does more damage than the quality of the film itself. Nevertheless I actually enjoyed this film quite a lot. The plot is very simple, yes, but that...( read more) alone is no reason to consider a film bad.
