this movie is great!!!!!!!!!!!! i want the dvd when it comes out mom and i saw this at the theater i loved it harrison ford is and awesome actor and very sexy to
It was ok i suppose. I mean it took them honestly way too long to put out another indie movie that really didn't feel much like an indie movie. It was like a cheep knock off of National treasure, which seemed like a cheap knock off of indiana jones.... wtf?
Indiana Jones is 64 years old, and his latest adventure is accordingly less sharp, gritty, and energetic than those of his relative youth. The film would have done better to replace most of the digital effects with good old-fashioned wit and ingenuity, but all the trademark elements are in place, and they earn the film a spot alongside the other classic installments.
After being forced to leave Marshall College under dubious circumstances, Indy joins forces with rebellious, young Mutt, who believes he knows the whereabouts of one of the most spectacular archeological finds in history--the Crystal Skull of Akator, a legendary object of fascination, superstition and fear. But, as Indy and Mutt set out for the most remote corners of Peru--a land of ancient tombs, forgotten explorers and a rumored city of gold--they quickly realize they are not alone in their search. Soviet agents are also hot on the trail of the Crystal Skull. Chief among them is icy cold, devastatingly beautiful Irina Spalko, whose elite military unit is scouring the globe for the eerie Crystal Skull, which they believe can help the Soviets dominate the world--if they can unlock its secrets. Indy and Mutt must find a way to evade the ruthless Soviets, follow an impenetrable trail of mystery, grapple with enemies and friends of questionable motives, and, above all, stop the powerful Crystal Skull from falling into the deadliest of hands. A great sequal to Indiana Jones and the last Crusade. Great acting by Harrison ford, Ray Winstone, Shia LaBeouf and Karen Allen. I really enjoyed this film from beggining to end. Some humour cleverly put into this film. The trailers and previews for this film made this film look great, and it turned out to be really good. The only thing that was stupid about this film was that the crystal skull was a skull to an alien specimen and at the end when you see the alien spaceship rise up from the ground. Quite alot of action scenes involved in this film. I liked the chase involving the motorbike and the car. One of the best films of summer 2008. Great directing by Steven Spielberg, who bought you the other three films. overall, i thought that this film was really good.
the wait is finally over and it was pretty worth a wait for the new indina jones film which has the title of indiana jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull. the kingdom of the crystal skull was just as good as raiders of the lost ark , the temple of doom and also the last cursade. the film was very good and also funny but i thought it was meant to be an action adventure film not a comdey because the other three indiana jones films were not. indina jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull bring dr.jones ( harrison ford who plays the role of indina jones great , who has aged ) to 1957 after being forced to leave Marshall College he joins forces with rebellious, young Mutt, who believes he knows the whereabouts of one of the most spectacular archeological finds in history--the Crystal Skull of Akator, a legendary object of fascination, superstition and fear and this journey takes him to the jungles of Peru and Brazil. this film has great action sences in it and good specail effects along with a good story , great film by steven spielberg. this film welcomes back Karen Allen from raiders of the lost ark. the one thing which spoils this film is the ending which could of been better. also there was great acting by Ray Winstone and Cate Blanchett and i wasn`t to sure on the role Cate Blanchett played in this film.
Hey, I enjoyed it. Spielberg can direct action scenes in his sleep and it's the first time Ford's been good in anything in God knows how long. Shia wasn't as terrible as I thought he'd be and the supporting cast overall was fairly good (great to see Marion back, even if she had little to do). Blanchett's arguably my favorite villain since Belloq in Raiders, as the rapier-wielding badass femme fatale Col. Spalko. Where this film really shines, however, is when you see Indy in his element - at the school, his home, the diner, showing his age and experience. It's definitely better than the uneven 'Temple of Doom,' that's for sure.
Where this one fails, however, stems directly from one source - the screenplay. I have no problem with the basic plot or the MacGuffin (aliens in Indy's world are no less ridiculous than the Ark blowing up Nazis with reckless abandon), but after 19 years this is the best overall script they could fine? Koepp's screenplay suffers due to its underdeveloped characters (Mac and Marion were ultimately wasted), cringe-worthy lines ("their treasure was knowledge... knowledge was their treasure"), and inability to explore the best themes in the story (old age, family, and the quest for power/knowledge). Oh, and I fully blame the CG animals on Lucas, who apparently loves that sort of kiddie shit.
This was a great experience to see on the big screen and like I said earlier, it's not the worst of the series, but after almost 20 years, this is the best we could get? There's no way it would satisfy everyone's expectations and it should've been made around the early '90s. After reading the Darabont script, it seems like Lucas forced the screenwriters to shoe-horn these ideas into their respective scripts. I preferred this version to what eventually ended up on screen (Marion's actually back, Indy's more proactive, different action set pieces, more depth to the story, no Mutt or Mac), but it's not a huge improvement. So I guess you could say this was flawed from the start. Only time will tell.
A lot of nostalgic fun, Indiana Jones, against his will, helps the Soviets find the power behind a mystical crystal skull. There isn't enough plot and Indy doesn't get to use his brain, mainly due to the exposition-spouting Ox and hundreds of other characters we've never seen before, all acting as if we should know who they are. But it is wonderful to have Marion back. Shame about that solution to what the skull is - how unconvincingly feeble.
This film is absolutely awesome. This film isnt a disappointment at all. As far as I concerned this film is a great success. The plot at first doesnt sound like a proper Indy film but when it is watched it is a typical Indy film with alot of class and alot of action. The visual effects are absolutely brilliant in this film. They werent over the top. The visual effects that Harrison Ford performed were all stunts and they were absolutely brilliant stunts aswell. The acting in this film was absolutely awesome from Harrison Ford once again. Cate Blanchett was really good in her first attempt as a villain and she suceeded that in my opinion, Shia LaBeouf was good aswell and so was the rest of the cast Karen Allen, Ray Winstone, John Hurt and Jim Broadbent aswell. The scenes with the aliens sort of ruined it for me and I thought the ending was good but it could have been a bit better. There was also alot of comedy even though some of it was really funny though. Really well directed by Steven Spielberg. Excellent plot from George Lucas. Better than the Last Crusade and the Temple Of Doom but not as good as Raiders Of The Lost Ark. One of best blockbusters of 2008.
Yeah, this was a fun time. It's not quite as good as Last Crusade, but it's was better than Temple of Doom. Not as gory as earlier entries in the series.
Action, action, action best describes this movie! It falls a little short in the script and character development categories, but the action is well-done and non-stop: and doesn't really give you a chance to miss it.
pretty good. good action and expected plot interesting twist at the end. but i thought that twist was uncharacteristic of indiana stories. it was more sci fi than mythological
Catastrophic. I expected much more. CGI and aliens in an Indiana Jones film? The only exciting moment was when they entered the huge storage from the first film and a glimpse of the Ark of the Covenant. Not even Cate Blanchett could save it. A huge disappointment.
Originally I was very against the idea of another Indiana Jones film. (I even thought it was a bad idea 10 years ago when the rumors first started popping up.) It was way too long since the last one; Spielberg is a different filmmaker and Harrison Ford is way too old. I saw no way of them pulling it off with the same style and panache that marked the first three films. Raiders of the Lost Ark is my all time favorite action film, it's so perfect in so many ways, those action scenes will live forever as some of the greatest ever made. Temple of Doom is a very fun follow-up, much darker in many ways, but again it has incredible action scenes and furthers Indy's legend. And I thought that The Last Crusade, while the least effective of the three, was a great send off; where we get to learn about where Indy came from and he has a great adventure with his father. I didn't see where another film could fit in. But as time went on, and the great teaser trailer came out for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, I'll admit that the kid in me was yearning to see another Indiana Jones adventure. So it was with great excitement that I went to opening night. (The first big premiere I'd been to since the last Lord of the Rings.)
One of the things that worried me when I initially heard about the making of this film, was that I thought they'd try to ignore that Harrison Ford is nearly 20 years older. But they make it part of the film, with a couple of good jokes about Indy's age. I especially liked that they moved the action into the 50's, no longer is Indy fighting the Nazis, now he's got the Russian communists, which proves to be almost as great a set of villains. They were able to incorporate nuclear testing, the red scare, hot rods and make Indy's sidekick a motorcycle-riding greaser.
That was another thing I was skeptical about, Shia LaBeouf. I really like him, I think he's one of the most charismatic young actors around, but I thought he'd seem too anachronistic, that he wouldn't be able to play the era. But he did a great job fitting in, I think Lucas and his American Graffiti knowledge of the era, helped him find his character Mutt. It's fairly obvious who he is, and I'm glad they didn't drag out the surprise for too long.
I dug the other characters as well. It was cool to have Karen Allen back as Marion Ravenwood, always Indy's best girl. Ray Winstone was a lot of fun as Mac, the flip-flopping sidekick, who you're never quite sure which side he's on. John Hurt does the nutty- professor thing to perfection as Ox, who's spent too much time around the crystal skull, and has had his brain fried in the process. Best of all the new characters was Cate Blanchet, as Dr. Irina Spalko, equally evil and sexy, a completely memorable villain. She was so good, I'd consider the best of the series since Raiders' Colonel Dietrich. Having a great villain is paramount to these turn-your-brain off adventures, there has to be someone truly evil to root against.
There were a couple of really great action sequences; I particularly liked the truck chase through the jungle, while nowhere near as classic as the chase is in Raiders, it reminded me of it. Only one thing bothered me while watching it, the use of CGI. It was very apparent in a couple of instances and that took me out of the scene. But I won't completely denounce their use of it in the film, it's simply another tool; one that's pretty unavoidable these days; and the gruesomely-awesome scene with the giant-killer-ants,my favorite moment in the film, couldn't have been done without it.
I walked out of the theater totally satisfied with this new Indy adventure, and only one scene bugged me while watching the film. Which was Mutt swinging through the trees with a bunch of digital monkeys, too ridiculous, even for an Indiana Jones film. It wasn't till later, when I got a chance to reflect on the film, that more things started not to work for me. The entire end of the film, seems way too out there, and didn't seem the right fit for a series ground in earthly matters. Though I must admit, it fits nicely into Spielberg's filmography. Kingdom of the Crystal Skull is the worst of the four Indy films, but that doesn't mean it's a bad film. There are a few great scenes, a couple that fall flat, but ultimately I was satisfied with this new adventure. Most importantly, it felt like an Indiana Jones movie; the shooting style, the way the action was staged, the dialog, the music, it all felt at home in the universe that Spielberg and Lucas have created over the last three decades. They wrapped up the series nicely, but also left it open for more. If they found the right script, and didn't wait too much longer, I wouldn't mind taking another trip with Indiana Jones.
Not the best one, but great fun...Oh...Harison Ford aged well...and it was nice to tie in his old flame...but some of the things he survived (the nuclear bomb) not so possible...
I've been a IJ fan since I was a kid. It was great to see Harrison Ford in action again. The action sequences were great. But the overtly sci-fi plot doesn't match with the previous films. So one star off for that, but otherwise a great film. RAIDERS is still the best though.
