Echos of The Godfather. An awsome movie which shows the background to the original. It's gripping, dazzeling and electrifying. Shocking and breathtaking. A full-clip of explosive action and searing suspense. An outstanding and fantastic cast. Anthony Wong and Eric Tsang are brill...( read more)iant. Wickedy cool and riveting. It's raw, enthralling and fabulous. Complex characters, hard-hitting drama and a great story. An adreniline-rush in amasing doses. It will keep you on the edge of your seat.

The first film was hard to follow, and this does an admirable job. Rather than continuing where the first film left off this delves into the past, examining the rise of Sam, and the hidden secrets in people's past. Great piece of work.

The sequel to Infernal Affairs is actually more of a prequel, fleshing out the characters and events that led up to the time of the original. It's a beautifully made and intelligent gangster movie that reveals the various shades of grey within the characters. None can really be s...( read more)een as totally "good" or "bad"; particularly involving Inspector Wong's manipulation of events that lead to unexpected consequences. My only beef is the fact that is felt more like a companion piece to the original than a self-contained story; I think anyone who watched this without having seen the original will struggle to see the significance of the events as they unfold here. It is also a little TOO clinical and detached, and as such lacks the gritty punch of the likes of Goodfellas or The Godfather. A fine film nonetheless.

When I first saw this I liked it more than the first one. Time has passed and now it's just a notch below, but this film does have a more epic feel with amazing performances from Wong and Logan. I hate prequels for the most part, but this is a great one.

Much better than you would think, with some strikingly beautiful images. And even though I could barely follow the plot for the first act or so, I found it very tense and atmospheric.

I would consider IA 2 a somewhat successful prequel to the earlier hit Internal Affairs. There are more shooting scenes and violence compared to the first. However I do miss the performances of the two A list male leads, Andy and Tony. I do have difficulty in catching the Canton...( read more)eses phases at times, so instead of taking 119 mins to finish, it took me 30 mins longer. I found that there seem to be too many plots in this prequel, it can get confusing. Many new characters here too. Overall it is not as good as the first but it is still a satisfying piece of drama.
