    "NO,NO,NO,NO,NO,NO,NO,NO!"

Opposite to my fears i really enjoyed this...i found that other than a very serious film i was confronted with a satire which was well executed. This was OK but not to my liking
  • December 31, 2009
I loved this! One of my movies of the year, and I should point out that I generally don't enjoy Tarantino movies. Pretty much everything about this movie is perfect though. At times you think, this shouldn't work - but it does. I was very dubious when I heard Brad Pitt was pla...( read more)ying a Nazi hunter, but he fits the role perfectly. The standout performance though goes to Christoph Waltz as the 'Jew Hunter' Hans Landa. To those of you who have marked this 'not interested' check it out! You will not be disappointed. Guaranteed!

it sucked, like al quentin tarantios movies does. it had potential but tarantio messed it up
  • December 31, 2009
It was downright funny when Brad Pitt tried to fake an Italian accent when the Nazi Colonel Landa spoke fluent Italian :) And Christoph Waltz is one great actor for his portrayal of Colonel Landa!

Starstudded, action-packed, epic and hilarious. Director Tarantino rarely misses when reaching his audiences, despite having a fondness for more graphic material. The aesthetic value of each recreated environment is superb, bursting with vivid imagery of Nazi-occupied France. ...( read more)Language is emphasized throughout the film, since it carries heavy significance in most of the plot.
It's not difficult for me to enjoy Tarantino's works due to his eccentric personality and how it relates to his projects. This film, while very comical, is also a moral adventure in which each audience-member views how fascist savagery is treated with vengeance.
Seeing this film more than once enabled me to understand each character moreso than the first time. Pitt is slightly redundant, yet somewhat funny in his role as the Basterds' Lt Aldo Raine. Standout talent exists within Shosanna/Emmanuelle (Laurent), von Hammersmark (Kruger), Lt Stiglitz (Schweiger) and Col Hans Landa (Waltz). It's fun to recognize Samuel Jackson's voice as the narrator, since he's made Tarantino's films so popular in the past.
It's a violent theme, sending Jewish-American soldiers after the Third Reich and leaving no prisoners, but an exciting and just one. Several scenes will have you rewinding the film, due to well-timed cutscenes resulting in uncontrollable laughter.
Should you want to watch a film which delivers laughter, suspense, excellently scripted dialogue and upbeat music - this is it. If you happen to speak German, French, and English - you'll notice just how much dedicated effort was placed in making this film linguistically perfect.

Another great movie by Tarantino. Its different plotlines converge into a witty and captivating story. Great characters, as usual, and signature shots and structures for those who love the director's style.

This was absolutely phenomenal. Obviously, it is incredibly historically inaccurate, but I think that makes it more enjoyable. It's like a fantasy of a heart-pumping, epic, and glorious way to end the war. Thrilling, unexcpected, and overwhelming, this magnificent film is most assuredly a must-see.

Hey Quentin, if there's a sequel please actually show the inglourious basterds please. They are the best part of the movie, the whole reason to see it. The 30 minutes of the 2.5 hour movie about them, that they were actually in was enough to enjoy it. The rest was ok too, but I...( read more) didn't think it would be a French/German art house movie. The trailer did say"You've never seen WWII through the eye's of Quentin Tarantino." I still haven't. Brad Pitt was great, and I don't say that often.

From an unforgettable, chilling opening, we're introduced to the baddie Colonel Landa (Christoph Waltz... give this man the Oscar already!), and from then on the film rarely lets up. Tarantino's trademark dialogue is still entertaining even when spoken in German, French, or Itali...( read more)an (much of the film has subtitles, so be forewarned). His penchant for revenge lurks in the film and the build-up is both satisfying and contemplative. Presented as a war movie with Spaghetti-Western influences, at times Inglourious Basterds still feels more like an homage rather than an actual Spaghetti-Western. The characters (excluding the Basterds), despite the time period and circumstances that befalls them, seemed to have watched about as much movies as Quentin Tarantino himself. For an epic of a war movie, there are constant references or talks about movies, right down to even some of the technical aspects. However, when the characters remember that WWII is still outside waiting with Nazis and Basterds running amock, the film is at its best.

update: tongue-in-cheek or not, there's nothing else like it. A third viewing finally elevated this film to 5-star status.
  • December 29, 2009
This was funny in parts, really violent and tense but the ending is not realistic.
  • December 29, 2009
Tarantino's most recent masterpiece has more than exceeded my expectations. Critics challenged movie-goers to get up and leave the movie during the first act, and this is something I could definitely not do. • December 29, 2009
As a movie it's good. As a work by Tarantino, it's disappointing.

"You probably heard we ain't in the prisoner-takin' business; we in the killin' Nazi business. And cousin, Business is a-boomin'."

Awesome movie. On my first viewing, I thought it was dragging way too much in some scenes, but when I watched again I completely chaged my opinion. ...( read more)Aside from the scene with Mike Meyers, which was painful in every way, I don't think there's a scene in this movie that I don't like. Exciting, funny, violent, and with some of the best characters Tarantino ever created. Christoph Waltz is incomparable, Brad Pitt is almost flawless, and Mélanie Laurent created my so far favourite character of the year. Some little problems with the editing, and some specific events on the script, but by all means, mr. Quentin did it again.
  • December 29, 2009
good dialogue but not enough action but the opening scene is classic tarrantino

After seeing this @ the show I needed to see it again on DVD due to its length & subtitles & I must say I enjoyed it more. Tarantino at his best!

Not up to QT standards IMO and really really long. Should have paid the extra cash for the VIP. I'll get the DVD tho, good enough for that.
  • December 29, 2009
This is a remake of a 70s movie. I wonder why Hollywood is making so many remakes.

There are hundreds of movies that feature our boys killin' Nazis and winning the war. There aren't, however, any movies in recent memory that grab history by the balls and rewrite it to their liking. Inglorious is intense, musical, bloody, jewish, creamy, and explosive.

Inglorious Basterds is what movies are all about. Waltz's character was superb and very entertaining. It was disappointing that Brad Pitt's character hogged all the excitement of the movie because he was not really that great.
