Critic Reviews

  • Moira MacDonald, Film.com

A mere sketch of a film!

  • Mark Caro, Chicago Tribune

The movie feels like a demonstration reel for toys, action figures and future DisneyQuest installations.

  • Susan Stark, Detroit News

Although it's quick, mischievous and full of visual trickery, there's not much magic in Inspector Gadget.

  • Joe Baltake, Sacramento Bee

    Gruesomely unfunny!

  • Owen Gleiberman, Entertainment Weekly

Inspector Gadget demonstrates how a movie with little more on its mind than tickling the eyeballs of 7-year-olds can feature spiffy, jack-in-the-box special effects and still end up a dud.

INSPECTOR GADGET really isn't that great of a film. Sure, it has Matthew Broderick, who we know to be hysterically funny from FERRIS BUELLER'S DAY OFF, but this one sort of misses its mark as a silly kids' movie.
