Interview with the Vampire Reviews and Ratings

Interview With A Vampire. What can I say? Stephanie Meyer, take a lesson from Ann Rice. THIS is how you write a vampire story.

When people read or write vampire stories, they often forget that the idea of being a vampire is not glamorous, but twisted and wrong in general. Thin...( read more)k about it, a vampire can only be awake at night, surviving off the blood of innocent people and on top of that, you're going to be stuck like that forever. Turning someone into a vampire is the most horrible thing you could do to someone. It's not romantic!

The whole film was built on this premise and it worked brilliantly, also because Ann Rice actually wrote the screenplay. That was another thing I loved. If she wrote the sceenplay, then it would have been as close to the book as possible.

Another thing I liked about this film was the characters and the performances. When I heard that Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt were going to be in this film, I thought they were going to blow. Thankfully, I was wrong because they were absolutely superb. Brad Pitt was believable and realistic as Louis, and Tom Cruise captured how much of an arsehole Lestat is. They were good, but the standout was Kirsten Dunst as Claudia, the little vampire girl who's mind ages, but her body stays the same.

For you, Louis. You can pretend it's wine.
  • November 21, 2009
Extremely well done. I thought it was going to be a pathetic attempt at the genre, but it was quite amazing. Tom Cruise was priceless as Lestat, it was a great from his usual roles. Brad Pitt did a great job too, he really fit his character nicely. Even Kirsten Dunst gave a great...( read more) early performance. It is a very interesting story, full of tragedy, set against a beautiful gothic landscape. It is by far one of the best vampire movies to date and is both thought provoking and entertaining.

  • November 20, 2009
olvidense de twilight......esta serie es mejor...mucho mejor.. y los libros son brutales
  • November 20, 2009
Not a Tom Cruise fan or else I would have liked this movie more. Still it was a pretty good movie.
  • November 19, 2009
so sad...:( good moral. but why do they have to have nudity?
  • November 19, 2009

  • November 19, 2009
Smart and sexy.No vampire movie could ever capture, what this one did. God bless you, Anne.......and Brad...and Tom
  • November 15, 2009
Just recently saw this. Not a bad job by Neil Jordan. ran a bit long but the screen was shared pretty well between Pitt and Cruise... I could care less about Dunst, but in this case she wasn't so bad. Pretty good vamp movie

  • November 7, 2009
One of the best vampire movies
  • November 7, 2009
I'd watch the movie twice and that is saying something. One of those timeless classics.
  • November 5, 2009
My favOrit mOviE the best movie
  • November 5, 2009
Long, but utterly brilliant. I can't say enough about theh costumes and the cast. I'm a Twilight fan (the books), however Rice's novel/thismovie is much more refined and sophisticated. All the male vampires in the movie are to die for (pun intended).
  • November 4, 2009
All i have to say is great vamp movie. The settings, actors and script, they done the book proud, all round brillant

    LO MEJOR DE LO MEJOR.
  • November 3, 2009
An imprressive and very well done vampire movie, and I don't like a lot of vampire movies because it's ust not something I like (the exception being FROM DUST TILL DAWN). Yet this film mixed in some great performances, interesting story, and some great humor to make a film that i...( read more)s well worth your time to watch.
Of course experienced actors Pitt, Cruise, Slater, and Banderas all did a great job, but the best performace comes from the young Dunst. She is amazing in the movie and shows a LOT of talent for a child actor in her time.
The story is interesting and moves around enough to keep you in your seat and if you don't mind and can overlook the homosexual overtones throughout the whole movie then you'll really enjoy it. What threw me off was the great dark humor that was mixed into the movie as well that still managed to fit in perfectly with the story.
Well worth the watch and I suggest checking it out.

    "Where's mama?"
"Mama... mama has gone to heaven, Chérie, like that sweet lady right there. They all go to heaven."
    "All but us."

  • November 2, 2009
this is one of my favorite movies ever. although it cant be compared with the book this is a beautiful movie with a classic feel to it that takes us back in time and into another world. good choice of cast although while a was reading the book tom cruise would have been the las...( read more)t person I would have picked to play Lestat he is convincing. throughout the movie we see louis battle with his conscience and morality. we also meet the haunting child vampire Claudia who never grows up and is like a woman in a child's body. this movie is very deep and haunting but a pleasure to watch

Without a shadow of a doubt, one of the best vampire movies ever made. Great story based on the Anne Rice novel, coupled with exceptional acting make this a true epic in a genre that has few.

    Exquisite story by Anne Rice.
And very surprising Tom Cruise as Lestat.
Charming vampires including the little Kirsten Dunst.
  • October 9, 2009
another absolute gem from neil jordan. has been one of my favourite movies for years. it's probably also the best thing going about vampires. no other film or tv series will match this! tom cruise is in his lifetimes best performance so far and brad pitt is good
  • October 7, 2009
The book rocked.....the movie fell short, but did better than most adaptations..
  • October 6, 2009
The beautiful dialogue is what held this film together. The way it was presented was amazing. It had a very conservative look and feel. I just couldn't see Tom Cruise as the vampire Lestat, though. I think Val Kilmer would of been better for the part. He actually turned down the ...( read more)role for Louis, a part Brad Pitt played to perfection. I believe Thandie Newton should have also had a much longer part to play. Her brief scene with Louis in his mansion depicted a great relationship if it ensued. The images portrayed here were mesmerising and everything worked with such harmony. The dark gloomy settings captured the essence for maybe one of the best vampire films ever created.
  • October 3, 2009
this is one of the most emotional/lustful leaving me longing movie i have ever seen.....I love it......always
