Alfonso (Gianfelice Imparato) is a research scientist who has suddenly lost his job and is looking for work. Alfonso turns to his longtime friend Vincenzo (Peppe Servillo) for help, but naïve Alfonso doesn't realize Vincenzo is in cahoots with organized crime. Vincenzo asks Alfonso to deliver a package without telling him the recipient is a local underworld boss, and soon he's on the run from the mob. While in hiding, Alfonso crosses paths with Gayan (Saman Anthony), a former cricket star from Sri Lankan who was bamboozled into coming to Italy and has ended up with an awful job looking after a mean-spirited old woman. As Alfonso tries to shake the gangsters after him and Vincenzo struggles to settle his score with the mob, Gayan has to find a fast way to raise the money to fly home when he's offered a high paying position as a sports reporter.
