pretty much seen it.
Good made-for-cable biopic with a very strong lead in Halle Berry. Dorothy Dandridge wanted to be her own, strong person but had a blind spot for the men in her life. She was ill-suited to first husband Harold Nicholas, who had no patience for her fragile sexuality and while the ...( read more)
Halle Berry plays singer/actress Dorothy Dandridge. Dandridge was the first African-American actress to be nominated for Best Actress. Berry gives an awesome performance as the troubled star. Brent Spiner is also wonderful as her caring and soft hearted agent.
The acting could've been better here and there but I like the story overall and as an African-American woman, I can relate in some areas.
halle berry beat whitney houston and janet jackson to the punch by playing dandridge in the well-done made for cable film. although she didn't do her own singing, berry acts and dances up a storm as the beautiful, tragic actress.
Halle Berry really shines in this film about actress Dorothy Dandridge. Such a great film with some very memorable scenes; I'd reccomend it to anyone.
Halle Berry is terrific in the bio film about the life of Dorothy Dandridge. It has a great cast, interesting story and the question is how did she die?
Anyone who thinks that Halle Berry can't act only has to see this film. She is terrific in this biopic on the life of actress Dorothy Dandridge, who became the first African-Amercian woman to be nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress for the film 'Carmen Jones". While the film i...( read more)
Brilliant, without this girl there could never have been a Halle Berry
I love this movie. Halle Berry wasn't too bad, and I don't even think she's that great of an actress. But the story is awesome.
Give Berry something to work with and what does she do? She proves her mettle as an actress of depth and stature. You go, girl!
Halle Berry did a Kick Ass job in this movie! But also it give you the chance to learn about one of the best actresses of all times. Ms. Dorothy Dandridge.
Halle really was born for this role. Yes she resembles Dorothy, has her mannerisms, and is just as beautiful. But ALSO, the more I learn of Halle personally, the more I see Dottie in her......for various reasons.....the similarities and histories, said and unsaid, are interesting!
I REALLY LIKED THIS MOVIE. I FELT THAT HALLE BEERY REALLY DID HER THING IN THIS MOVIE AND THE DOROTHY DANDRIGE WOULD BE VERY PROUD..
what a beautiful story about human life of a Black woman becoming the best at performing arts when blacks were consider less than human.
Halle Berry should have got an Oscar for this movie instead of that trash she did get an Oscar for.
Fantasic performance by Berry but other than that, the film is sub-standard. Maybe my review is biased since I dislike TV movies but "Introducing DD" at times is unexciting and drawn out. It's a funny coincidence how Halle Berry potrayed the first African-American woman to get an...( read more)
