Parker's eponymous detective. Having recently settled into his position as the police chief of Paradise, Massachusetts, Stone is troubled to learn that the body of a former straight-A student has been found floating in a nearby lake. Later, as Stone delves ever deeper into the case, he finds that the girl had grown increasingly self-destructive in her last days and that her parents hadn't even bothered to report her missing. His investigation around the quiet New England town yielding little to go on, Stone ventures into the city to search for clues and has a frightening brush with the Boston mob. With every inquiry Stone makes, he appears to be moving farther away from the truth than ever before. Though a disturbing instance of explosive domestic violence momentarily distracts the detective from the task at hand, Stone's determination quickly turns to obsession when he begins to feel as if he may finally be on track to solving the case. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

More Jesse Stone, this time in the 3rd go-round Stone is investigating the death of a 14-year old girl who "got around" and had a bad reputation around the community and even within her own family. At the same time, he's also investigating an older continuing domestic abuse case where the wife has just about had it with her drunk, abusive husband. The best one so far in my opinion.

Really interested Jesse Stone mystery movie as well as I just liked this. What makes this TV movie work is Tom Selleck's usual fine performance of a title role who is intelligent and determined yet stubborn and flawed. While most of the actors are good, another standout performance comes from William Devane as a therapist Stone's ex-wife recommends to help him stop drinking - a former cop who lost his job and his wife to his own alcohol problem. Another standout performance comes from the actor playing the Boston businessman with a bad reputation and a goon named Lovey. The violence is minimal for most of the movie, though there is some blood in a couple of scenes.

Based on Jesse Stone Novel #3, Death In Paradise, was probably the best Jesse Stone book to make into a movie. On a cold rainy day, the body of a young, abused, teenage girl is found floating in the lake and Jesse gets obsessed with finding out why. As with most Robert B. Parker novels, the story is very solid, and this one was especially good, because it brings Jessie Stone right to the edge, and I feel like you really get to know him more intimately from this story. Tom Selleck, AKA Magnum P.I., once again is in a familiar role and makes the story that much stronger. I can't say much more without giving stuff away, but the ending is quite unexpected.
