Valentin has been elected the mayor of Chihuahua despite having few constituents and too many sworn enemies to count. Soon after being injured by someone who doesn't view him as mayoral material, Valentin is taken in by the tough but fair Jesusita - who helps him to recover despite her intense dislike for the new city leader. During his convalescence, Valentin learns that a girl from a highly respected local family has entered into a Romeo and Juliet-type romance with his greatest enemy.
