So good I had to buy the movie. This is more then just action, look a little deeper. The follow up movie, live action (Stray Dog), was better then I had thought it would be.
7 or 8 stars if it were possible. Awesome, I think I like it better than any Miyazaki films because it's a step OUT of Childhood, whereas as Miyazaki films feed my inner child, which is quite obese already!
[Jin-Roh can be found at Hollywood video if there's one near you.] I saw this one a long time ago, it's memorable enough not to forget though. I don't exactly remember what happens [I curse my damn memory for that] but I do remember the hype afterward. Most animes do that, where I can't go to sleep cause I want to see more. Back to movie, they mix together the story of little red riding hood well in this. It's a great blend and really bloody too, hence why it's rated R.
It came Very highly recommended, but the movie fails to live up to the hype. While it is quite clever, and the art direction is positively amazing, the movie's plot is full of holes. Still, it flies in the face of hollywood stereotypes, and i can't complain about that.
I've heard that "Jin-Roh - The Wolf Brigade" is set in a fictionalized version of the post-World War II era, which makes this anime film an alternate history story. I'm so interested in seeing this!
For a while, this was my favorite film of all time. It is Japanese animation, but no where near the popular (and trashy) kind we are accustomed to; this is high-quality stuff. Cel-drawn (the last film of that kind). The use of German weaponry, equipment, vehicles and language add a depth to the film that historians such as myself will delight in. Although the ending is sad, it poses an interesting question: is Humanity really worth anyting?
Like many japanese mangga anime, Jin-Roh has an apocalyptic storyline, great graphics, and incredible action scenes. A must-have for every anime collector.
Jin-Roh's beginning hits you like a ton of bricks, or an explosive, but it sort of trails off after a while. It's a good psychological suspense if you can sit still and watch it.
The story of a alternate future of Japan, where politicians rule the government, using the steel hands of the Wolf Brigade, a mighty heavily armored foot soldier, able to withstand pointblank explosion, and deliver rains of bullets ... on top of it all, great plot, great story, amazing turn of events, stylish actions, and a dramatic ending..
Whoa!! Was just plain blown away by this masterpiece of anime. Amazing story, well told. The 'Red Riding Hood' references are haunting and memorable. Best anime I've seen in a while.
Wonderful. I dont remember an anime this provocative since Akira. The haunting atmosphere throughout is spiced up with a dark rendition of little red riding hood. Wonderful film.
possibly the best anime you've never heard of. Well, actually there are a lot of good ones most of us haven't heard of. But the rail guns and Red Riding Hood bit did it for me, no wait, not like that. Just watch the movie.
One cannot consider one to have watched Japanese Anime at it's visceral darkest best until Jin-Roh. Oshii at his broody best. Mizoguchi delivers a haunting, brilliant soundtrack.
Awesome movie. I've seen it a half-dozen times, and wouldn't mind seeing it another half-dozen times. Very intricate plot, very believable. Sad, story, yet somehow not depressing in the least. I highly reccomend it to any one, anime fan or not!
