A lowly pencil pusher working for the MI7 agency, Johnny English (Rowan Atkinson) is suddenly promoted to super spy after Agent One is assassinated and every other agent is blown up at his funeral. Critic Reviews from Rotten Tomatoes

"Mike Myers has worked this material to death."
‑ Peter Travers, Rolling Stone
"[A] completely unnecessary and nearly chuckle-free spy movie spoof ..."
‑ Richard Roeper, Ebert & Roeper
"The spy parts aren't exciting enough and the funny parts aren't funny enough."
‑ Nell Minow, Beliefnet
"You won't die laughing in the theater, but the filmmakers aren't asking you to, as they do in the frantic, adolescent comedies that dominate the market. It's a pleasure."
‑ Jake Euker, F5 (Wichita, KS)
"Belongs on an old-time double bill, where it would satisfy, if only because we'd be into the second movie before we noticed that the first came up a bit short on laughs."
‑ Brian Webster, Apollo Guide
"There weren't enough good laughs for me to recommend it to anyone other than the most devoted Beanheads."
‑ Jack Mathews, New York Daily News
"So much of Johnny English should be funnier than it is."
‑ Stephanie Zacharek,
"Contrived, bland, and unfunny with an awful lead character..."
‑ Felix Vasquez Jr., Cinema Crazed
"Another feeble 007 parody."
‑ Dennis Schwartz, Ozus' World Movie Reviews
"Excruciatingly predictable"
‑ Bill Chambers, Film Freak Central
"A funny summer frolic."
‑ Hazel-Dawn Dumpert, L.A. Weekly
"Innocuous, if dumb, fun."
‑ Michael O'Sullivan, Washington Post
"While it lives up to the very definition of 'hit and miss', the parts that hit are very funny."
‑ Bill Clark, FromTheBalcony
"Straight from Tony Blair, English's next assignment is a suicide mission: to find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq."
‑ Thomas Delapa, Boulder Weekly
"In spite of some wince-inducing bathroom humor, and jokes you can see coming from a mile away, this turns out be a very funny romp indeed."
‑ Daniel M. Kimmel, Worcester Telegram & Gazette
