One might understandably pick up s...( read more  read more... )omething labeled "from the makers of The Prince of Egypt with trepidation. Happily, the makers leave Moses alone and tell the tale of another Bible star, Joseph, known for his coat of many colors and a fantastic destiny. Joseph (voiced by Ben Affleck), his father's favorite son, is sold into slavery by his jealous half-brothers. After years of struggle, Joseph rises to be the Pharaoh's trusted adviser when his gift for interpreting dreams pays dividends. The 78-minute feature is rich in color and features several strong songs ("Better Than I" is the standout) written by newcomer John Bucchino. The film's religious elements are secondary, yet its heart is in the right spot--a most agreeable stance for a wider audience. Prince was designed as an "event" movie and suffered in the hype and marketing. With lower aims, Joseph is a more satisfying film and even invites the unexpected: we're ready for the next "sequel." --Doug Thomas

    I am 25 and loved this film. The animation is good where a disney animation might be 4 stars this is deserved a 4 star for animation. Cool Film !

    Look at the cast! Ben Affleck? Mark Hamill? Tom Virtue (apparently appearing in every TV show ever made)? Wow! And to think it went straight to DVD, even with Luke Skywalker as the voice of Judah. How much would it suck to have to list "voice of Simeon/Slave-trader" on your...( read more) resume? ha

    When Joseph receives a beautiful coat from his parents, his eleven brothers hate him even more and are driven to sell him to desert merchants who take him to Egypt! There he is made the servant of a wealthy Egyptian who misunderstands him and has him thrown into prison! He shows ...( read more)his God-given gift by interpreting the dreams of two other prisoners. Eventually, the Pharaoh begins to be plagued by dreams and sends for Joseph, who interprets them and saves Egypt in the process. He is made second in command to Pharaoh, and has most of Egypt's grain stored. Eventually his brothers arrive in Egypt to buy food because of famine, and he must forgive them. Then the dreams that had angered his brothers were in reality prophecies that had come from God.
