And Loved the Naked scenes with Paul and Steve Zahn in the Restaurant although brief but hot and sweet and sort of in the vain of Jeepers Creepers except that in this case not good when you make a Psychotic Truck Driver angry and they try and run you down on a CB radio a very dangerous Road Trip and think I saw somewhere that there is Joy Ride 2 in the works maybe??

This is actually one of my favorite horror flicks now. It didn't scare me it was just well played. I find the plot to be very good. Although the twist at the end was a little weak, I still enjoyed this movie a lot.

For some odd reason, I love this movie. And I'd actually rank it among the most suspenseful movies of all time. It's just a top notch thriller that has thrills throughout and keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout the entire movie!

from the car versus big truck genre that spielberg started with duel comes joy ride by john dahl. it starts off as if a teen drama like smallville. the characters never really develop except they're both tryna get in the same girls knickers which really does nothing for the general story. when the truck does enter the fray at points it is good but when the characters start running around naked while ordering burgers and going to meet rusty nail the lack of realism kicks in. would anyone actually do that? nothing special. so so average

A very good modern thriller that has elements from other great thrillers like Duel, The Hitcher. It was enjoyable and will have you on the edge of your seat at times.

A classy thriller in the style of Steven Spielberg's movie Duel about a group of friends who travel from Colorado to New Jersey who discover the Truck driver they are talking to on the CB radio is actually a psycho killer.

Features a nude scene with Paul Walker and Steve Zahn.

    Leelee Sobieski also stars.

YEah, this movie was really something! It was suspense to the extreme. The tension was incredible, only second to the Hitcher, for this kind of movie. The best scene is the corn field scene!

I wasn't interested at first but it was on TV one time so i gave it a chance. It was a very intense movie and i actually liked it mostly because of the fact it featured Steve Zahn as i don't like Paul Walker that much. I did enjoy it although the ending was very 'Phone Booth' like. Overall i thought it was a good film and i would watch it again given the chance.

Very good suspense and acting. A bit hard to grasp and I did miss the first twenty minutes or so. I found it hard to pick up on which was annoying because this was a point in the movie you actually need to watch to get the ball rolling and I missed it. But all the parts I did see I give a thumbs up. Very good.

this film was ok. i wasnt watching it to intensley but it was a decent watch. the story felt a little remonsent to another car film i had scene in the past but it was ok. but would have been better if you had scene the all die at the end rather than getting away...

Even though they were complete idiots in trying to prank that guy, you can't help but like the characters the more you see them, and also care for their well-being. As a whole, an engaging suspense movie.

It's actually not half bad! It starts off a litle shonky, with stilted dialogue between two air heads, but when Steve Zahn enters the picture all turns to comic and horror gold. A good Friday night flick, that doesn't require many braincells (though, more than your average road slasher flick...).
    Great ending.

This was one creepy movie when it came out. They should have made a sequel. I thought it was well done.

I would have given this negative stars...if it hadn't been for Steve Zahn and the voice of Ted Levine.

Directed by: John Dahl.Starring: Paul Walker, Leelee Sobieski, Steve Zahn.

Somewhere in the earlier years of the new millennium, this film cropped up. Not many knew about it and most ended up seeing it on DVD. I remember seeing it many years ago on the shelf, it didn't look appealing, but it did have a review written on the front of it (then again, what bad straight-to-DVD looking film doesn't?), but I picked it up and I am glad I did.

The story follows college student Lewis who is prepared to travel across country to see Venna, his 'friend' miles away who doesn't realize he has an interest in her. On the way through, he passes a police station where he hears word of his brother, once again being held in a cell. As they travel across country, they buy a CB scanner to keep tabs on the cop's whereabouts and to have some fun with the other truckers. When they mess with one of them, it leads to a horrifying trip to not only stay alive, but to save Venna. There are so many key things that make this film work so well, but it still isn't as original as it could be. The screenplay co-written by 'Lost' and M:i:III' man J.J Abrams and unknown Clay Tarver is a strong point. Although it has its fair share of clichés to help introduce the thrills and scares, its everything around them that work. In any common thriller (or film in general), the structure consists of 3 parts....simply, a beginning, middle and end. As it is in any formulaic film, the thrills happen at the climax, with no real relevance for the first two acts.....Roadkill is different. Within the first 45 minutes, we are given a films worth of intensity and excitement, with a mere 10 minutes of down time before it picks right back up for the last 30. The film never tries to focus on its characters because that could be a downfall for the film, making it strangely paced. Instead, it is tightly paced and delivers pure adrenaline, with John Dahl, who builds suspense deftly and delivers an intense atmosphere and style, with a great feel of such classics as 'Christine'. The acting ensemble could have done with an upgrade, although Steve Zahn can be a comic genius and he has his silly moments here, no one else takes the stand. Paul Walker is as terrible as always, with his sudden outbursts, lack of control and his terrible 'scanning eyes' and 'bobbing head' trademarks that he does so much and Leelee Sobieski just adding a visual touch to the film (she is better than this)....thankfully it doesn't falter the film. And out of the 3, Ted Levine's voice has more depth and skill than all of them combined, its quite chilling.

It can't pass through without having its clichés, but what we do get is a tightly structured, brilliantly directed thrill ride that is tense and highly enjoyable. A very solid B-movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
