Critic Reviews from Rotten Tomatoes

"The strong point of this gripping dramatic story set in pioneer Wyoming is a constantly mounting suspense."
‑ Variety Staff, Variety
"Just the kind of beautiful world where a man in need of a miracle might find one, and the kind that can be despoiled a few acts of venality."
‑ Christopher Long, Movie Metropolis
"It's an intriguing Western with big-time star appeal."
‑ Dennis Schwartz, Ozus' World Movie Reviews
"[A] taut, neurotic melodrama."
‑ Jonathan Rosenbaum, Chicago Reader
"an intense drama whose Shakespearean tensions are embodied in the enormity of the Grand Tetons beneath which it unfolds"
‑ James Kendrick, Q Network Film Desk
"Jubal is a movie of roiling tensions, as the four lead characters constantly are pitted against each other due to jealousy, deceit and misunderstandings."
‑ Matt Brunson, Creative Loafing
"This is less Shakespeare than Hollywood melodrama in chaps and Daves was a seasoned hand at both genres."
‑ Sean Axmaker, Turner Classic Movies Online
