Extremely disappointing (I'm probably giving it half a star more then it deserves). I really expected more from Louis Feuillade, who also directed the masterful "Les Vampires".

September 28, 2007Judex was arguably the first real costumed superhero. he predates the Shadow, the Spider, Doc Savage, Batman... all of whom he influenced. his only contender to the title is France's the Nyctalope, who moreso resembled later costumed heroes and was roughly Judex's contemporary. but Judex made his mark, and for my money, even today this 5 hour+ silent B&W masterpiece ranks among the finest superhero/ costumed vigilante stories ever filmed. Judex rules!
