I didn't read the graphic novel off of which The New Frontier was based but I'm guessing there was a lot more to it and this movie is more or less a Cliff Notes edition. I loved the 50s setting with the red paranoia and the whole scapegoating aspect of the story's opening was rea...( read more)lly impressive. The ending kind of flaked out in the same way anime movies flake out but the very ending tied together pretty nicely. Nowhere nearly enough Batman and Green Lantern (as in NOT Hal Jordan) but overall not bad. I liked it a lot more the second time around and it got much more of an emotional reaction out of me. I don't know if I was having a particularly Summer's Eve kind of day, if the movie's message spoke louder this time or what. But the stretch of the movie where it looked like Superman bought it had me a tad misty. Justice League: New Frontier is proof positive that their animated features beat the hell out of Marvel's.

Justice League: The New Frontier is absolutely genius and fantastic. The first great step is to set it back in the 50's. It captures the soul of each character and also allows for some excellent sci-fi B movie twists and turns. It has dinosaurs, aliens and the best superheroes ev...( read more)er. It touches on sexism, racism and war. It is pretty adult stuff, with talk of communism and Batman snapping arms. It's real world setting makes this like Watchmen in so many ways. The 70 minute running time is it's only flaw. A lot to cram in here. The voice cast were perfect, especially Sisto and Harris and it was nice to see that DC didn't rely on Bats and Supes to save the day. Wonderful animation as well. It makes you hope for a live action Justice League movie. Just be sure to set it in the 50's, make it 3 hours and get the same writers on board.

pretty good, not horrible at all

Great addition to the DC animated universe with a fantastic 50's feel and some very cool action pieces. The origin stories were fun to revisit and the story was as true to the graphic novel as a feature of this length could be. Sadly there are too many characters involved and non...( read more)e of them are truly fleshed out in time for the woosh-bang finale. Still the 'siver age' feel is great for fans of the genre. A live action movie would be nice.

Falls short of the actual book, but far better than I expected.

A really cool stylized look for the Justice League. The animation looks beautiful, easily some of the best i've seen in a while. It's got a really decent plot and the characters stayed true to the source material, which was nice. The voice talent was a change, but it worked well ...( read more)with the stylized concept. I hope there's more to follow...

It started off really good, but the story was in pieces and the ending was just a "free for all". Also I just didn't like Jeremy Sisto as Batman. The only character I cared about was Flash (Neil Patrick Harris) because he was an underdog compared with the rest of the superheroes.
  • September 22, 2009
Starts strong, then rushes progressively faster through the motions of, "oh no a mothership of dino-aliens!" and a bevy of terrible one-liners.

Great movie. So far DC has proved that there animated movies are superior to Marvel's. In fact Marvel should take a page out of DC's book and make animated movies based on famous story lines. The animation in this one is top notch as well making it look like the style of the Darw...( read more)in Cook's comic book series that it was inspired by.

A pretty decent animation flick, Justice League: The New Frontier is based upon the graphic novel published by DC Comics, and shows a very mature plot with a different vision of superheros is in the same vein of Watchmen but made for kids.

I'm really glad they've finally decided to something with Hal Jordan.
