Kangaroo Jack

Anthony Anderson, Bill Hunter, Christopher Baker, Christopher Walken, Damien Fotiou, David Ngoombujarra, Dyan Cannon, Estella Warren, Jerry O Connell, Jerry O'Connell, Mark Sellito, Marton Csokas, Michael J. Shannon, Michael Shannon, Ryan Gibson

Kids will be drawn to Kangaroo Jack because of the playful antics of a computer-generated kangaroo; however, they'll probably be bored stiff as they endure the absurd and over-elaborate plot....( read more  read more... ) Charlie (the charmless Jerry O'Connell) and his best friend Louis (the reasonably amusing Anthony Anderson) run afoul of Charlie's mob boss stepfather. He insists that they deliver $50,000 to a mystery man in the Australian outback--or else. Along the way, these two dimwits put Louis's bright red jacket (which happens to contain the money) on a kangaroo they think they've accidentally killed, which awakens and bounds off. Belabored and nonsensical chases follow, along with the usual realizations about the importance of friendship, etc. Kangaroo Jack has a lot more sexual innuendo and violence than you'd expect, none of which is either funny or thrilling. Christopher Walken and Estella Warren get through their supporting roles largely unscathed. --Bret Fetzer

    Stinker!!

Oh, Saturday mornings, you make us watch the worst movies ever created and enjoy them. I don't know if I love you, Saturday mornings, but you surely are fun.

Ok, here's the deal: the movie is silly, awfully silly, and that's a bad thing, of course. But I was extremely surprised ...( read more)to see just how great the visual effects were! They were awesome! Even in close-ups, the kangaroo looked great and when chasing him (in long shots and action scenes) it was simply exciting and amazing. I thought he was going to look like the awful CGI Scooby Doo or the pathetic CGI Dobby in the Harry Potter series but it looked REAL... yes, even when impersonating Dr Evil...

Unfortunately, that was the only good thing about this piece of silly crap because who in his right mind would ever dare to put Jerry O' Connell, Estella Warren and Anthony Anderson all in one single movie?! That's a crime, maybe even a deadly sin.

The fun thing is how weird it was to see Michael Shannon in this. Just as Sam Rockwell in "Charlie's Angels": a terrific actor doing a good job in a crappy movie. Weird, huh?

If it weren't for Shannon and the kangaroo, this movie would be unbearable. And that's a bad thing.

I'm having another one of those mirages, and this one's a beauty.

Definitely one of the highest ranked on my all-time guilty-pleasure list. The kangaroo is adorable, and it's possibly the best you'll ever see Estella Warren look. Whoo hoo! Coincidentally, Warren herself is

...( read more) also about as high up my guilty-pleasure list as she can be : ) Oh, Canada! Brains and beauty. Yup, it's a cliché -- but clichés become clichés for a reason.

All right, I admit it, this is the most romantic moment of my life --

    And now it's over.

While it's not particularly good, it's a harmless movie. It has some shining moments every now and then, but it's a little to childish. This movie really had no audience, it's not a kids movie and it's definitely not for adults. It's just sort of a mediocre attempt.
