  Luc Merenda is great. His role gives gravity to everything that happens. If all action movies and thrillers had such a reminder of seriousness and emotional torment, the genre wouldn't be as fun; men would go to movies with submachine guns in order to look sensitive. Merenda's performance is so important here, it overshadows Vittorio Caprioli, whose cadences are funny and precise, as usual. James Mason is good too. I wonder if he is moving his hands a lot because he's doing a movie for Italians. Di Leo gracefully uses everything's that here for easy pathos. The camerawork doesn't show off and it's not lunky either. The first half of Kidnap Syndicate is a commentary on the rich and the poor, the capitalist and the criminal; and the second is a better action movie than Man on Fire. This deserves to be remade. Luc could play the rich guy this time.
