Critic Reviews

  • Variety Staff, Variety

A mish-mash of violence, psycho-drama and lukewarm kiddie comedy.

  • Geoff Andrew, Time Out

If Reitman's film gets closer than most to covering the bases, there remain huge gaps in plausibility and a romantic subplot any ten-year-old could tell you is just plain icky.

  • Caryn James, New York Times

In Kindergarten Cop, he plays off the Schwarzenegger image more gleefully and successfully than ever before.

  • Rita Kempley, Washington Post

hough Schwarzenegger remains to acting what ham hocks are to a cheese course, he manages against all odds to be appealing as the Austrian au pair. Think of it as To Conan With Love.

  • Joe Brown, Washington Post

[Director Reitman's] got a way with kids, and found a remarkable ensemble of 30 antic urchins to work with, cashing in on kindergarten's comic terrain and the blurted brutal honesty of the kids.

Do I dare to say, Schwarzenegger's best acting work.

Ten reasons why I love Kindergarten Cop: 1. The way this movie introduces John Kimble is one of the best Arnold introductions ever! 2. Thug: "Who are you?" Arnold: "I'm the party pooper." *shotgun blast* 3. "It's not a tumor!" 4.… More

Just one in a long line of movies where big tough guys are put into the situation of having to look after a group of kids. I kinda liked it anyway, being a fan of Schwarzenegger, and this was one of his first comedies, so it's not all that bad. Overall, it's okay.
