CRAP CRAP CRAP CRAP... Not even Jeff Bridges and Jessica Lange could save it. And that guy in the gorilla suit... HORRIBLE!

This updated remake of the legend, the one recalled most by X Generation fans, is actually almost as fun as the original.

This first remake of the classic 1933 monster movie is not really a patch on the original film but it's okay thanks to a good cast which includes Jeff Bridges, Jessica Lange and Charles Grodin.

Ahhh, this one do sucks. Just watch the new version and, of course and above all, the classic from 1933. Cheeeesy...

Although it's not nearly as good as the 2005 version, it does have better dialogue then it & a much bloodier climax.
And over all I enjoy Jeff Bridges' acting more then anyone in the 2005 one.
But then again, I despise Jessica Langes awful dumb blonde acting.

A very great movie about King Kong... It was a brilliant movie... Even the King Kong itself looks like a toy, but it still scary... And forgot about the other non-logical thing in this movie because this movie had a good answer for how they brought Kong to New York with a very big ship... And the ending, it's very very scary... How Kong been shoot until he's hurt and bleeding, it is very very not humanity behavior even he's just a big ugly giant monkey... And Jessica Lange gave a great and sexy performance... She's really really pretty and beautiful enough to defeat the wildness of Kong.. Another great Beauty killed the Beast story... Even Peter Jackson's version stills my favorite, but this version was great too... They great in how they take Kong to New York or how Kong been killed... Great classic movie!!!

I can't believe that some people consider this the superior Kong film. Kong looks awful and the reason they go to the island in the first place is pretty stupid in this one as well. The only Kong film worse is the sequel King Kong Lives.

Jackson's remake annoyed me, this one just bores me. It did have Jessica Lange when she was looking very do-able. But not even that, or "the dude", can't save this one.

The movie starts off great for about 5 minutes. Then Jessica Lange shows up and it's "hey let's check out the hot babe!" I understand this was a sexier "more modern" era, but you don't do that at the cost of a great monster/adventure film. What fucking bullshit. >_>

This is so cool. King Kong version with Jessica Lange and Jeff Bridges. Even though made in '76, it was creepy as hell, believable, and not cheesy at all. Jeff Bridges is hot! and so is Jessica Lange of course. I get so upset when man exploits animlas or other vulnerable creatures, even King Kong!

Nice effects but hardly any of the magic that the original holds. On the bright side, Jessica Lange is a goddess in this.

Man, I vaguely remember this one. But I recall barely that, like other reviewers here, I was rooting for Kong. Otherwise, not too memorable. I may have to see the more recent Peter Jackson remake and compare.

This 1976 remamke of the classic film was not bad at all, the film debut for Jessica Lange. Jeff Bridges is awesome in this movie.

Not the best version of King Kong, but still very entertaining. It prior to 'Star Wars' and it shows. Some of the graphics, are now laughable, but it is interesting to see that there was plenty of efforts placed into this film. The Ape, looks a little dated, but you can't deny the effort.

Heheh...old Kong! ^_^ If you had to pick between this and the new Peter Jackson one, I'd go with the new. But it's still an entertaining film.

I thought it would be best to write a review on the first rather then the current one in films. I feel its important to give an orignal credit cause without its success or failure, you wouldn't have we have today. Watching this movie after seeing Peter Jackson's version, i'm still a fan. This movie has a hero, where the other one really didn't. Come on...a screenwriter rescuing the beauty from Kong all because they shared like 2 moments together??? You cant discredit this movie due to the visuals for its time...truly unfair. This movie for its era did what most movies today wish they could do....entertain movie goers.
