Frank Sinatra and Tony Curtis fight over Natalie Wood in this World War II romance, based on the novel by Joe David Brown. Sinatra is Lieutenant Sam Loggins, whose platoon is fighting it out with the Nazis in the Alps. On a weekend pass to the Riviera, Loggins falls in love with Monique Blair (Natalie Wood), the daughter of a white mother and a deceased black father.
