Nicely understated comedy/drama that does little to offend and manages to force a smile or two. Simple story with some elements of alienation that Mike Leigh would be proud of. Family type fun with a message that doesn't entirely hit home. The cast look bored most of the time (or...( read more)

A shoe company owner goes to extreme measures to save the company. Will it work? Will he learn a valuable lesson? Will there be a romantic sub-plot? Will they make it to the Milan shoe festival? This is pretty much The Full Monty 2. It follows the exact same patterns, with loved ...( read more)

This an inspiring movie that tells you no matter who you are there is a place for you. The music and this film Kinky Boots will make you walk away happy that people despite differences can live and respect one another.....a nice thought. All I have to say is...YOU WORK IT!!! lol

This reminded me a little of "To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar" only in a shoe factory in England.

So..Chiwetel is not the best looking cross dresser. But this is a heart felt film, and an interesting story line to talk about acceptance.

A great movie to understand the work in a shoe factory and also the world of drag queens. Loved it!

Very funny true story. Takes awhile to get going but really sucks you in. Funny to see Nick Frost in a less-than-sympathetic role (at first), but it's Chiwetel Ejiofor as the brazen transvestite that steals the show.

Critic Reviews
With Kinky Boots, we find ourselves watching another one of those British comedies in which unconventional sex is surrounded by a conventional story. full review
Kinky Boots would be little but a gender-bending retread of The Full Monty if it weren't for Ejiofor's regal Lola. full review
Even in light comedy, Ejiofor is a commanding presence. As queen or king, he rules. full review
This pleasant but predictable affair does one thing very well: showcasing the versatility of Chiwetel Ejiofor. full review
Kinky Boots trips on its contrived plot, but this blend of trash and sass is a comfy fit. full review

January 4, 2008A great adaptation of a true story coming to the big screen. This film seemed slow in some parts and dry. All and all it was a good film. Chiwetel Ejofor played a transvestite cabaret star fantastically and held this film together. I liked the fact he sang when he was preforming. I think more and more should sing their own songs..well if they can sing. This film had great messages to be yourself know matter what you get into,or where you end up in life. 3 stars
