Storyline is totally random, but the way the movie played out was pretty kool, and decently original. The narration makes the movie, Val Kilmer is surprisingly hilarious and Robert Downey makes the movie, I love his comedic style.

A hilarious tongue and cheek homage to old detective stories. Of course adding someone as quick witted as Robert Downey Jr. was the reason I enjoyed it so much. The give and take between him and Val Kilmer's gay P.I., Gay Perry, is hilarious. IT also has a great film noir feel to it, and once all of the pieces come together it makes for a great thriller.

This movie basically confirmed for me that RDJ is an AMAZING actor and incredibly funny. I highly recommend this flick!

YAY!!!!!!!! finally saw this and boy did i enjoy it! Val kilmer took the whole show man. but robert downey jr is wonderful too. the best thing about this film is just the right amount of humour right amount of action and right amount of dialogue. wonderful. just watch this!

I'd rather go bang bang, bad review. Another crime movie. Any movie focused on the bad guy is bound to be not good.
-
Far more humorous and entertaining than you'd expect for a movie that doesn't fall neatly into any one genre. It's great to see Robert Downey, Jr. showing up in things again, and Val Kilmer's character was hilarious. Very good movie.

There is something very different about Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang... one I never expect would be directed by Shane Black (scriptwriter for Lethal Weapon) and the other are the two main stars that really surprises me how both actors manage to pull off so well, that you will be attracted to them immediately.
It's an odd film I might add but one for a ride that is fun, unique and weird.
It may not be everyone's cup of tea but give it a try... who knows, you might come to like this movie a lot. -
I really enjoyied this film. I thought the dialogue was great and the cast together were just fun to watch.

i love rdj, but i found most of his "humorous" commentary irritating and contrived. he and kilmer do have a good chemistry though.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, yet another amazing film to sneak by almost completely unnoticed, is Shane Black's (the guy who wrote Lethal Weapon) little comedy/parody on the ridiculous world of Hollywood and the "whodunit" film.
A thief accidentally gets the attention of Hollywood agents and starts to follow around a private detective so he can learn and eventually act as such. What follows is a series of events that are hilarious, dark, and real (esque anyway). Shane Black often uses sarcasm, and typical blockbuster stereotypes are either avoided or made fun of.
The acting here is great. Robert Downey Jr. nails the role (as he does with most of his stuff) and Val Kilmer gives one of the better performances of his career. The first movie I saw Michelle Monaghan in, and she definetely has potential.
Crude and often vulgar, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang isn't for everyone for sure. But for those who don't mind some curse words scattered around and violence, and for some looking for a good comedy and totally quotable dialog, you can't go wrong with Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. -
simply a great movie. funny, great performances on all parts. i think the humor keeps things going when the movie would otherwise drag

Haha, I really don't even know. It was quite hilarious, and unique in overall delivery. Not astonishing by any means, but there's definitely solid entertainment here that's not sure if it's a thriller, stand-up commentary, or tv special. But I'm okay with that. Abraham Lincoln.

Comes off as a bit much at first, but it's fast, funny, and exciting, like any good buddy picture. Something shane black knows a thing or two about.
-
This is such a cool movie. Two great actors in the lead and a great in-jokey script make this a lot of fun.
-
WOW! What a snappy, fun flick. Every cast member nails their role, special kudos to Downey Jr. for his impeccable comedic timing. The directing style is simultaneously fresh and nostalgic, with lots of nods to the familiar cliches of the old-school detective genre. The plot moved a bit too fast for me to absorb everything, but the hectic pace only added to the ride. With lots of twists and an entertaining narrator (wink), this is a must-see!
-
Robert Downey Jr. is phenominal in practically everything he does. He's a great narrator and really gets behind the self-awareness of the movie. The dialouge is well written, the story fresh, and the style slick. If only that 3rd act had been ironed out a bit.
-
Best. Movie. Ever. No seriously. I loved it so very very much. Excellent humour, excellent take on the noir genre.
-
funny, clever movie keeps me laughing the whole way! i never thought robert and val would be so great. awesome movie i wouldn't mind seeing again.... i wish they would play it on TNT again...

If you've been looking for an intelligently written, dark comedy brimming with sharp, snappy dialogue, you needn't look any further than Shane Black's, Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. Cleary, Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer enjoyed trading sarcastic barbs in this noirish, murder mystery set smack in the middle of the L.A./Hollyweird crowd. Michelle Monaghan doesn't let the guys have all the fun as she offers her share of snappy witticisms, as well. Loaded with a multitude of fast-paced, colorful quotes, it's definitely worthy of repeated viewings and should be added to the libraries of all who consider themselves connoisseurs of adult comedy.

A hilarious and delighting fun filled movie experience with dead-on performances by it's lead actors.
-
With witty lines and suspenseful action, this movie is a must-see. The comedy and drama mixed well in this one.
-
Shane Black was the reason that the first Lethal Weapon movie was so damn good! He returns with his brand of acerbic humor and great dialogue in this fantastic noir mystery set in Los Angels(where else)
Robert Downey Jr. and Val Kilmer are excellent as the leads, in fact it's Kilmer, playing a gay private detective, that makes the film the most fun. That is not to say that Downey brings the film down. He's the rather freaked out center of this whole mystery.
Add the gorgeous Michelle Monagan as the damsel in distress and you get a fantastic flick that crackles with energy and wit. Why wasn't this a huge hit? -
one of the best dramatic comedys i have ever seen. the story was just so perfect that everything worked out flawless..val kilmer as a gay badass and robert downey jr as a confused guy who gets caught up in the middle of everything make for 2 amazing co-stars of the movie! Michelle Monaghan was a very attractive female lead and her role was very great. i think the unusual storyline was what made the mvoie so funny and the characters that added to the nonsense. scenes just as the scene when downey jr gets his fingers slammed off made for some of the funniest most random things i have seen in a very long time. the movie was just very witty and a very smart ass-like narration from downey jr was hilarious. the movie was so great because of the unquie nature of the movie and the plot. watch it!

Shane Black returns with his wit intact, but the story still struggles, Downey Jr. carries this and it lives or dies on his performance, fortunately it lives.

This is fun to watch. RDJ and Val Kilmer interact very well. It's nonsense really, but it's great fun.
