Good jokes, very funny... Saw her while ago and saw it again few ago. Shows that straight girls can be gay too sometimes hehehe

Wasn't bad but i can't say it's anything like i expected. But I guess alot of real life relationships end up like this so for that reason; respect.

I honestly thought this would be a stupid film but it turned out I was wrong.
It was really good and extremely funny.
The bar scene was hilarious! -
Although I'm not a fan of the flip flopping lesbian movies, this one had something different. I loved the eloquence of Jessica and her search for her one true love.

A fantastic view into a woman's discovery that love has no boundaries but your own personal barriers. Cute and witty.

Quite good, missed a bit like apparently the sex scene - but the rest was okay. Nice story, interesting idea. Stupid ending. But realistic.

After I watched this movie, all I could think about what a line in West Side Story, "I feel pretty, oh so pretty, I feel pretty and witty and bright." In essence, that was the film. A pretty, witty, and bright story about two girls exploring lesbianism. In fact, the first half of the film was one of the wittiest parts I have seen in a long time. In addition to the brilliant story is brilliant acting. I especially enjoyed Jennifer Westfeldt's acting. She played the most fragile but unestimated girl so well that it kept the audience asking for more. The only major problem with the film was the ending. I just love the way season 5 of "The L Word" puts it. Distributers corrupt the beauty of the film to add sales. It just isnt right!!

I just love this movie. It gave such a fresh take on relationships and the third sex. Aside from that, unforgettable performances from the two main characters. On a personal note, the way the movie ended where in the two main characters split was, for me, very appropriate and effectively gave the film a sense of realism,

A good romantic comedy to watch. It's one of those movies that everyone learns a very important life lesson and everyone ends up with the people they need to be with.

Another one of those enjoyable lesbian romantic comedies much like 'Imagine Me & You' and 'Saving Face' although I think this one came out before those two.
The movie follows the course of Jessica Stein's relationship with Helen.
The awkwardness of being together for the first time, being comfortable with their relationship but keeping it secret; having their relationship out in the open (I was half thinking that the movie would go on until they died).
There are some great moments in this but, it's not with the comedy. More like people being people with each other. Blinky actually touched on my favourite moment in this movie; it's a scene that takes place between Stein and her mother. -
Hilarious and poignant film about the search for true love and the search for oneself, focused around the New York City dating scene. To call it a romantic comedy seems like an insult. It is one of the smartest comedies I've ever seen. Do not miss it!

one of the funniest...sweetest and touching romantic comedies ive seen in a long time...when i worked in the theater in Aspen i got lots of people to see this movie that never wouldve given this movie a chance...the chemistry between Jennifer and Heather is so clear and obvious...i love Jennifer in this more...she stole the show!!

Basically the lesbian version of Annie Hall. The movie sets it up when Jessica, on a whim, answers an ad penned by a woman named Helen (Heather Juergensen), and from there on begins a relationship full of ups and downs and love and all that fluff. I love the neuroticness of our lead title character, played by Jennifer Westfeldt, who goes through toying with the idea that she might be a lesbian, or bisexual at least. The entire movie revolves around Jessica's road to self-discovery, so if we were to see the movie as it is on the outside, perhaps then will one fall under the "I hated the ending" category. Honestly, I myself don't like the ending, particularly since it seems to be all summed in montages in a brisk 10 minute episode, does throw this fun journey out the window, but worst of all, it feels tacked on... it only works if we just care about Jessica Stein, which I do, so in a way, the ending still sorta kinda works. It's a good movie since it hits close to home on its relationship aspect, the ending is just rushed and tacky. I would watch the movie again, just 'cause everything before the last ten minutes were good.

While watching this, I kept flashing on Brokeback Mountain and thinking about how hard it is to have been in a gay relationship up until very recent times. Not that I'm guessing it's a piece of cake now for gay couples, but realizing how horrible people can be even up to the minute I'm writing this comment, and especially in earlier portrayals, and in recent portrayals of earlier times. But as dissimilar as these two movies are in tone, there is one very striking moment of similarity.
If you recall the journey Ledger makes back to Gyllenhaal's home, where he finds the shirts in the upstairs bedroom closet, then you may know the shared moment I'm referring to here. Gyllenhaal's mother, played by Roberta Maxwell, is the great scene stealer of the whole movie. Her knowledge of and acceptance of the relationship between Ledger and Gyllenhaal, even though she does not speak of it and shows her compassion for their plight in powerfully moving non-verbal ways, is the great moment, for me, in Brokeback. Similarly, the great moment for me in Jessica Stein is Jennifer Westfeldt's mother, played by Tovah Feldshuh, knowing of and acknowledging her daughter's love for Heather Juergensen.
No matter how cruel people can be in any era, love, even if it is a straightforward old-fashioned mother's love, can conquer plenty -- if not necessarily all.
Finally, I want to say that Jackie Hoffman is terrific here. I notice she isn't in the flixster actor database. I shall remedy that pronto : )

A lesbian romantic comedy! And it's very good! It's about self-discovering as a gay person, and I think the way it happened to Jessica Stein is very close to reality. It's not exagerated and not stereotypical. I wish there was more movies like this one. I think it's a must-see if you're gay. And if you're not, it's a good opportunity to learn and understand how love can grow up in a gay relationship.

clever writing but plagued with distasteful slow direction and flow. i did not enjoy the ending; it was not the happy ever after i was searching for. on third thought, Stein, however being humorously and interestingly neurotic, was never into being with one of the same sex and struggled with the revelation that she was attracted to a woman. it started off with witty, hilarious lines but ended much in highlighting homophobia. to give due credit, this light-hearted movie should hopefully make coming out a little easier, as portrayed in Stein's case. (Oh on a side note, i CAN"T BELIEVE they cut Idina Menzel out so much!?!? you practically can't spot here she was there 2 seconds then gone. i had to see it a 2nd time to search *intently* for her. dumb.)

Booooooooooooo. This is crap. It's the stereotypical lesbian movie made for straight people. Sorry, no offense intended.
