Plot: In Japan cartoons and animated features do not encompass fantasy or slapstick personification of animals, but instead delve into the wondrous serendipity and the dark purposes of human interaction. ...( read more read more... )>Kite is a prime example of their expression within this genre. With its darkly disturbing La Femme Nikita-style story line, this film begs to be more than the 45-minute event that it is, rivaling the live-action works of Luc Besson and even John Woo. The story involves a college student, Sawa, whose family was brutally murdered. Sawa is adopted by Mr. Akai, the police detective investigating the case, and a twist occurs when we find that Mr. Akai has trained and utilized Sawa as an assassinating angel of vengeance to eliminate the undesirables able to slip through the net of the legal system. In the undertaking of one of these missions, Sawa meets Oburi, another orphan trained like her for the same purpose, and she is placed in the classic position of having to make a life-changing decision. Insights into the truth about Sawa's past are revealed through abstract flashbacks as the film progresses at maniacally breakneck speed, with intense gun battles and blood and guts galore. Kite is exquisitely animated by Yasuomi Umetsu and accompanied by a hauntingly beautiful soundtrack composed by An Fu, and the only flaw is that it could have been expanded by exploring more of its profound emotional revelations. --Hector V. This movie was interesting. The best art of this movie were the assassination scenes. This movie had two scenes one which I thought was completely irrelevant. I would not watch this movie again, it was a one time watch for me.

This was a birthday present to me and was suprisingly great. It's very dark, violent and allbeit disturbing. The quick nude scenes took away any suggestion of a rape filled hentai! I praise the animators for keeping Sawa very innocent with her movement and mannerisms.

Can't say that it's either good or bad anime. I can't refuse that there's something much more than violence and nudity. But I hate the way the producer plays with the audience feeling anyway.

A plotline like La Femme Nikita, this animated feature rivals any live action film for direction and atmosphere. The version I saw has hardcore sex + violence, but is stunning and deeply disturbing. If you are at all worried there is a edited version that still ok

Think the original "La Femme Nikita" only with an underage girl and a creepy handler. Excellent story, crisp pacing, and good animation make this a fun watch.

The ending makes it lose half a star (I mean WTF! seriously!). However, it's one of the most outlandishly over-the-top animes and action flicks ever, which makes it a-okay in my book. :D

The unedited version falls under the hentai category; that one has no tentacles. But if you don't appreciate the delightful themes of abuse and rape, stick with the squeaky clean copy.

There are two versions of this film, both are racey but one is pretty much explicit. Check carefully. Early pioneer of the young lass with a gun concept.

So wrong, even seedy and exploitative, but it will stay with you. Perhaps as a mental scar, but that's worth something too.

Very short film(only 45 minutes) but it has a great story line and is still worth the 20 bucks i pd for it.

This movie was fucking nuts... totally beyond crazy. The plot is barely there and what the dirty cop does to this girl is horrible. But the animation is awesome.

Awsome anime! Kinda like The Proffesional. A little orphan girl is trained to be a hitman (or hitgirl) by a crooked cop. Later she finds out that her master was the one how killed her parents she desides to do what she does best.

    WARNING
There is a "HENTAI" version of this so watch out if you gonna let sone kids watch it with you. Is the same movie but uncut and when i mean uncut it is uncut, sex scenes show A LOT! The cover of the "porn" version has the girl (Kite) standing up coverd in bandages.

This one comes in two versions. The cut and the uncut, x-rated version. I saw the uncut version which is supposed to make more sense then the cut version.
This is a fastpaced anime with some great action scenes that could have been longer then it's 50 minute run time and I wouldn't complain. Anime fans should definitely check it out.
