A bit daft but it's inoffensive entertainment.

Manhattan psychologist Mark Powell becomes intrigued by the case of a man calling himself Prot who is brought in after being found in Grand Central Station behaving oddly and who insists that he is a visitor from the planet K-PAX. Powell becomes intrigued by Prot?s patient ration...( read more)alism, even more so when Prot provides detailed information about the star system he comes from that only select astronomers could know. Powell is also certain that Prot has terrestrial origin and is determined to break through his delusion and find the truth. Playing Prot's doctor, Mark Burton, Bridges actually gets more screen time, but Spacey is definitely the headliner. At first Prot looks like a role written specifically for Spacey's signature giving the appearance of smirking without actually smirking but the part gains depth as the movie progresses. Spacey plays the sharp witted, seemingly innocent, cocky, smart mouthed character very well; and any one of those adjectives could describe the majority of the characters that he has played. There are some beautiful scenes thanks to director Iain Softley, and cinematographer John Mathieson.

Prot: "I had never been to a class BA-3 planet before.
    Dr. Mark Powell: Class BA-3?
Prot: Early stage of evolution-future uncertain."

The movie was great but it would have been better if Jeff Bridges played the Dude and was still a psychiatrist.

Is he crazy, is he real? Oh, this was a puzzle piece of a movie.
  • November 18, 2009
Good science fiction concept, played out in a way that's only slightly annoying or frustrating. Mostly entertaining.

WOW , THIS WAS LIKE: DOES THIS PLANET EXIST OR NOT?

I love this movie, it's my all time favorite, it makes me think about a lot of things, like.. life, the Universe, Philosophy, (Aliens,) Family, etc.etc. =)

Good movie. Intelligent story where the doubt about Prot stays untill the end. Hardly any action, but the strenght of the movie is that you dont need it.
