This movie is OK for a 90 minute escape. Using the stars (Angelina Jolie, Licy Liu, Jackie Chan, Jack Black, etc.) for voices did add anything to the movie for me. I found it a cookie-cutter type movie - the lazy panda who everybody loves becomes a Kung Fu warrior overnight and... ...( read more )

Martial arts and Eastern Philosophy blended with a larger than life character voiced by Jack Black, really funny and interesting movie.

Kung Fu Panda was cool, but it definitely doesn't live up to its stellar cast. The movie breezes along at a brisk clip, perhaps too brief. It's hard to believe that Po could have transformed from his buffonish beginnings to a mighty warrior in the time that it takes for Tai Lung ... ...( read more )

I thought I would hate it because of Jack Black. But it surprised me.

Fun animated tale enlivened by great fight sequences and quality voice work from Black and Hoffman. Not particularly funny or original but solid.

Enjoyable cartoon flick that could have been even better if they had played up the slo-mo a little more.

One fine movie. full review

The aphorisms creak. The plot's an open book. But all of those clichés are part of the joke in this ebullient ursine coming-of-age tale about a humble panda destined for greatness. full review

Joe Morgenstern, Wall Street Journal

The film settles into a succession of ritual spoofs of the kung fu genre, and peddles the sort of cloying preachments about self-esteem and human potential -- panda potential -- that little kids hear ... full review

Everything that happens in this dull tale of Po, a paunchy panda who becomes a zealous kung fu fighter, is telegraphed well in advance. full review

Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle

Kung Fu Panda gets across important and inevitable plot information in ways that are novel and unexpected. Things simply don't happen the way they usually happen in animated stories. full review

The animation is dazzling, so lovingly detailed you can make out individual hairs on the titular beastie, and full of bright Chinese images. full review

The nicest surprise about Kung Fu Panda is that it's so much better than the goofy-cutesy title would lead you to expect. full review

Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

It's elegantly drawn, the action sequences are packed with energy, and it's short enough that older viewers will be forgiving. For the kids, of course, all this stuff is much of a muchness, and here t... full review

While its storyline might seem familiar (in fact, very familiar if you've seen the recent live-action Jackie Chan/Jet Li hit, The Forbidden Kingdom), there's enough invention and irreverence to make t... full review

This movie is AWESOME. It reeks of awesomeness! One of my favorite animated kung-fu movies! Po was hilarious (i could see Jack Black in him) and adorable and pudgy and fun and adorable! I was impressed by the other celebrities who voiced the other characters. I loved the moral and message it had, especially Master Oogway's (the turle sage) quote. The storyline is great, the animation is amazing, and the kung-fu action was cool. GET READY TO FEEL THE THUNDA!!!
