This is a very funny film! My favourite Dreamworks animation so far!
  • August 4, 2009
It was cute enough. The fighting is what made it interesting. Not as funny as I thought it would be though.

    Great movie, absolutely brilliant fun.
I'll be honest, its not exactly hilarious, there are funny moments sure but not as many as you think, and the ones there are are alittle childish and predictable. This film is about the look and style, .its breathtaking. Its easily the best ...( read more)looking film for some time, since 'Cars' maybe.
The oriental vista's are gorgeous and dreamlike in appearance, the landscapes, skies, colours, trees, buildings, clouds, its all beautiful, a true work of art and amazing achievement. You must see this film purely for this, makes you wanna go to China on your next hols haha.
The story is cliched and predictable right from the start, usual 'Karate Kid' setup, but the characters are quite original and cool, tiger, mantis, stalk, monkey and snake, all experts in their own style. Again, all the characters look fantastic, truely perfect in their smooth brightly coloured clothes with perfect detail and lovely looking pattern and colour detail on their fur (tiger, monkey, panda).
the fights are great, the dumpling fight scene being the best for me hehe
and the bridge fight against the baddie is good too.
The voices all sit nicely with the characters, Jackie Chan in there as monkey.
The ending is abit flat but its a great kung fu ride. I really did enjoy this one, best animated film since 'Toy Story' for me but not as funny as hoped.
'Wow the fantastic five, your all much bigger in real life than your action figures, except you mantis, your kinda the same size'
lol best line of the film haha

This movie is OK for a 90 minute escape. Using the stars (Angelina Jolie, Licy Liu, Jackie Chan, Jack Black, etc.) for voices did add anything to the movie for me. I found it a cookie-cutter type movie - the lazy panda who everybody loves becomes a Kung Fu warrior overnight and...( read more) fights the bad guy to the death.

Martial arts and Eastern Philosophy blended with a larger than life character voiced by Jack Black, really funny and interesting movie.

I thought this movie was going to be stupid, but it was actually really good. I enjoyed it a lot.

One fine movie. full review

Amy Biancolli, Houston Chronicle

The aphorisms creak. The plot's an open book. But all of those clichés are part of the joke in this ebullient ursine coming-of-age tale about a humble panda destined for greatness. full review

Joe Morgenstern, Wall Street Journal

The film settles into a succession of ritual spoofs of the kung fu genre, and peddles the sort of cloying preachments about self-esteem and human potential -- panda potential -- that little kids hear ... full review

Claudia Puig, USA Today

Everything that happens in this dull tale of Po, a paunchy panda who becomes a zealous kung fu fighter, is telegraphed well in advance. full review

Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle

Kung Fu Panda gets across important and inevitable plot information in ways that are novel and unexpected. Things simply don't happen the way they usually happen in animated stories. full review

Kyle Smith, New York Post

The animation is dazzling, so lovingly detailed you can make out individual hairs on the titular beastie, and full of bright Chinese images. full review

Colin Covert, The Minneapolis Star Tribune

The nicest surprise about Kung Fu Panda is that it's so much better than the goofy-cutesy title would lead you to expect. full review

Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

It's elegantly drawn, the action sequences are packed with energy, and it's short enough that older viewers will be forgiving. For the kids, of course, all this stuff is much of a muchness, and here t... full review

While its storyline might seem familiar (in fact, very familiar if you've seen the recent live-action Jackie Chan/Jet Li hit, The Forbidden Kingdom), there's enough invention and irreverence to make t... full review

This movie is AWESOME. It reeks of awesomeness! One of my favorite animated kung-fu movies! Po was hilarious (i could see Jack Black in him) and adorable and pudgy and fun and adorable! I was impressed by the other celebrities who voiced the other characters. I loved the moral and message it had, especially Master Oogway's (the turle sage) quote. The storyline is great, the animation is amazing, and the kung-fu action was cool. GET READY TO FEEL THE THUNDA!!!
