Very creative, clever, and strange; a visually impressive tribute to silent film. La Antena is a modern B&W silent film done mostly in a classic German expressionist style with some notable modern touches. It's Metropolis meets Alphaville meets a John Alton film noir in a surrealist low-tech SF story about the power of language and communication. In one great twist on classic silent film, the subtitles actually physically exist in the world of the movie, and can be manipulated by the characters. Many amusing uses of the subtitles, lots of clever shots (even a few visual puns), plenty of references to other films. Some odd and unsettling use of Nazi iconography as well. The plot is a little thin and unravels a bit toward the end, but this is well worth seeing if you like silent films.

A visually stunning, mentally provocative and thorough tribute to silent era and expressionistic cinema, with innumerable references (or rip-offs if we get cynical) to classic films. Creative use of written dialogues, excellent synchronized original music. However, the anti-corporate, anti-TV story is hardly original. Its points are rather simplistic or too obvious (Mr TV? come on!), at times unevenly sharp or on the other hand, extremely sweetened for an originally hard-leftist scenario...Another blemish the non profound use of distinguished signs for making not so sparkling remarks. But, all in all, this a truly unique beautiful movie that deserves multiple views

Absolutely gorgeous throw-back to old expressionist cinema. Great visuals and a lovely score to match, this is well worth checking out. And: in response to the one-star review below, while hardly subtle, I hardly think references to Melies and Lang constitute 'B-Movies'.

Mr. TV controls everything in this futuristic fairytale. People watch his programs, eat his food, and in exchange, he holds their voices hostage. This film is amazing for several reasons. It is a silent film with an amazing 'set' done in a combination of simple miniatures and backdrops. It uses symbolism so many times that it must be watched more than once just to catch the hidden messages. And the subtitles not only tell the story, but are used in many unique ways to evoke emotions. This is a must see!

Wow! What a fun movie! It is nearly silent. Someone has stolen everyone's voice, and they want more. A kid with no eyes, a little girl, and her parents are forced to try to save the city.

This black and white flick delivers thrills, chills, and laughs. I totally dig it. It features a few aspects of steampunk. Very interesting inventions.

    See this movie.
