I liked the different species of early man. The 2001 monkeys, Planet of the apes...etc. It'll be interesting learning how historically correct the timeline was. Ron Perlman is great. So were Foo Fighters:)

Lots of different types of humans fight each other for fire. I decided Ron Perlman isn't wearing makeup.

Grittier than Clan of the Cave Bear. You must have a stronger stomach to watch this one. But, oh, the journey the main characters take. It's awesome to think of these early people and the lessons and skills they learned toward becoming modern man. This one does show that the ...( read more)

They dont even have to talk for this to be a great movie!
Noone talks at all but you understand what they are saying! -

80.000 Years ago, at the dawn of mankind, prehistorical men knew how to preserve accidental fire, but didn't master at all the technique to set fire them selves. At those cruel and raw days, fire ensured the survival of the human race. Tribes assembled close to a fireplace to ben...( read more)

Complex and simple at the same time; shocking and disturbing, but beautiful at the same time. One of the greatest non-talkie films ever made, and one of the most meaningful as well. Awesome.

The sole "prehistoric movie" to assemble the human instinct on species still immature of their physical identity.Warriors, mammals, united or separated,it's a pretty engaging motion picture by Annaud,so don't even bother watching Emmerich's blockbuster atrocity.

October 23, 2008"This movie is uninteresting, unexciting, unintellectual, unfun, I couldn't find anything good about it." as quoted by igirl2688 is hilarious in the ignorant statement that it is. Unexciting; I'll give that a nod but only to those that need action instead of thought.
Unintellectual and Unfun being used in the same sentence is the most hilarious part of that rant.
Obviously not a fan of The History or Discovery channels.
Don't get me started on the idiot that is fearad, much like deadlynightshade87. These two apparently have sexual frustration issues.
Now go watch 10,000 B.C. and be entertained. -
December 27, 2007Yeah, I don't get the people bitching about the sex scenes.
Theres that one in the begining, once or twice with that homo-sapiens girl, and one with the fat woman. And they are extreemly short... a minute or less each... that makes less than 5 minutes of sex for a 100 minute movie. I've seen movies with a sex scene lasting for more than 5 minutes...
There is obviously a story for this insanely superb movie. Obviously, for those who prefer useless action flicks, or cheezy romance with dumb wanabe-poetic dialogues, you won't find any here.
Quest for Fire is an AWESOME movie!!! -
November 19, 2007I measure this film on the same level as 2001: A Space Odyssey. Scientific Realism.
Although prehistoric, this is the most logical conclusion.
I find it humorous that some people* find this movie's sexual themes gratuitous or something to laugh about. I don't think it was the director's intent to just throw in these sexual themes merely for titillation. The point of this film is clear.

Think about it!
IT, being Man's basic needs; Procreation being one, next to shelter and food and the ultimate point of the film being about fire and our need for it.
"Get a plot" ????
While this movie didn't have any dialog, it's very easy to see what is actually going on. You obviously zeroed in on the sexual scenes of this film (much like an adolescent) and never had it in mind to comprehend what was taking place.
You've got A LOT of growing up to do sweetheart. -
October 15, 2007I cannot let the comment below stand. This is TRUE primitive prehistoric man...yes, of course there is (a) brutality (2) tribalism & (3) raw sexuality!! Has much changed?? Far superior (no script)....to 5000 Years B.C. starring Raquel Welch (though I enjoyed that movie too!!) Brilliant!

September 12, 2007This show shouldn't be called "Quest for Fire", it should be called "Quest for Sexual Content." I'm not really a prude, but this movie...Come on! How much do I have to sit through to try to glean a story from it? Sadly, there is no story. I think the creators of this film sat together and asked, "How can we fit the most graphic sexual content into a span of two hours?" Horrendous, even for someone who normally doesn't mind. Get a plot!
